I'm missing Angus's bots already - perhaps we can build a simple & reliable loaner bot for new builders or those who don't have time to repair? I can definitely contribute a set of P60 gearboxes, Colson wheels, Victor controllers and some Lipo batteries if anyone wants to weld up a reliable Bisalloy frame. I'd be happy to pay for the plasma cutting as well if it got more people interested. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Just evolving that idea, I can get the parts to use 775 motors on the P60 gearboxes, that should make for an interesting and competitive bot that doesn't need constant maintenance.
I also like the idea of using some of the UK building techniques. They often have a very open base built of relatively soft materials and a drop-on armour shell. It makes the insides cheap & easy to build and the armour is a tough and semi-disposable skin. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

I go at 5AM in the morning... but anyone is welcome to swing by and grab roadkill for use as a n00b bot. It's just sitting in the workshop, lonely. I'll be trying to start up some robowars in Perth for sure, probably just ants though! _________________ ( •_•)

Considering that Roadkill won a Nats title, we would be stupid to refuse the offer - when would be a good time to drop by? I would still like to develop a new loaner bot from the ground up; the more spare bots the better! _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

So just so we're clear here, we're talking full banana feathers at Jeffs?
When exactly? _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Let's see what Jeff says - maybe late May or June, so as to give everyone some time to prepare? If Jeff is OK with a featherweight event, it seems only fair to bring along any smaller bots you have running. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Waiting to try and get in touch with Jeff to see what he says will result in this event being in December
But on the surface of it yeah it's awkward just to rock up without him knowing _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Alrighty. I setup the lathe today and am looking at getting new gearboxen together for my sportsman feather. I think it should be good to enter in any comp. But if its full spinner I am getting some 5mm steel and testing out my plasma cutter to make a new shell. I only have until end of june before I am really tied up for a few months so would love to get one more event in before then.
Just thinking, if we do one event this year we should try to run at least two classes, and if theres enough people, over two days if necessary, but i suspect the people count will be a tad lower than usual so we might be able to squeeze it into one.
I reckon full spec feathers and beetles _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

So far, we are right on track for your prediction! Since you and Andrew can't make it to the Nats and Aaron is migrating down here, I propose we try for an event in November or even late October is that fits everyone's calendar better.
If nothing else, we need to show Aaron some beetleweight action . _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Are people still interested in that November event? Glen and I obviously need to make some repairs but I am still keen to get all my bots going by mid November.
After that epic match between Mr Mangle and Decimator, I propose we have a sportsman-like event with the spinners turned down to a non-termial RPM. IE I would turn Mr Mangle down to 2K or 2.5K and Sissorhands down to about 1K RPM.
No another note, IF we had a portable arena, where could we have events that didn't cost a fortune to rent and didn't need expensive insurance (assuming its all private, no spectators). _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion
