case hardened high tensile steel embedded into the ring _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets
the motor is now "mounted" to the bot,
we drilled out the original mounting because it was too high and we made a new one that's part of the bot itself. Also meant we don't need to worry about mounting screws ;->

you can see the lower bearing mount here.
I got a pack of 10 bearings from vxb, but they seem kinda sloppy.
also a pack of 50 e clips from CBC _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Nice work! How did you get the original aluminium core out of the laminations without disturbing them? I would like to try that with an HK motor I have, but there doesn't seem to be any place to grip the laminations while puching out the centre tube.

@nick just chucked it in the lathe then drilled it out.
@Jaemus yeah, lots of Al ;->
Hopefully the outer ring should weigh about 1kg
unfortunatly it looks like it'll max out at probably 1000RPM so i might need to stick an extra cell in it _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Oh this is what happens when your making an end cap and spin the tool post around whilst its too close to the job.
1kg outer shell + 112 grams inner frame = 248g for all the guts? _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Thanks for the info - too bad my lathe is way too small to try that trick on the featherweight motor I want to use . Might have to try it out on something smaller.
