Australian Robowars Nationals 2012 - hosted by QRSC and IAG
As an Easter present for everyone I have some good news.
I am happy to confirm that the Ipswich Art Gallery will be the host of the 2012 Australian Robowars Nationals.
The event will span 3 days over the September 29th, 30th and 1st of October long weekend and take place in the foyer of the gallery. There will be prize money, camera crew and plenty of spectators on the day.
Each of the 3 days will each feature one class so builders and spectators can focus and follow each of the robots from start to finish. The event will be round robin with the top robots going through to signal elimination finals.
More details such as prize money, entree fees and lead up events to come but the agreement has been signed so start planning and building your robots.

If you are looking for a place to point people Robowars2012.com.au is now live.
I need someone to do the full site if there is any volunteers. The Launchrock is really just a placeholder I did in 20min. Event is now on our Twitter, FB, QRSC site for a start.
Will try and work out budget in the next few weeks and get a handle on the TODOs.
Also @Daniel when you get back and alive from Robogames could you create a BuildersDB event for it.
I know people may not yet know if they are attending but I would like to try and get some of the event layout worked out.
So basically the plan is to run one class each day.
Feather, Ants, Beetles so that everyone can just focus on those robots for the day rather than having to try and keep multiple running.
Now there is two main questions. What days would people like to put each class on and would people like overnight to rebuild the robots for the finals.
So my current timeline is sort of slow feathers all day 1. With round robin through till the end of the day similar to last year.
Day 2 all beetles finishing off with the featherweight finals starting ~ 2pm.
Day 3 all ants finishing off with ant/beetle finals starting ~2pm
We could potentially run through all the battles in one day for each class which. The other change which I was considering is putting the Beetles Saturday then Featherweights on the Sunday with Finals on the Monday but I am wary due to people wanting to shoot through for flights.
Most states confirmed NSW as well. _________________ Steven Martin

1st of October is Queen's birthday holiday in WA and QLD and Labour Day in NSW, ACT and SA. Victoria don't have a public holiday.
There is a website that lists all the public holidays around Australia.

Well would probably stick with feathers on the saturday then to account for Vics. If any were to come. _________________ Steven Martin
