Doesn't sound too futile to me, testing is testing and we havn't had a good build day in quite some time. (we need a club meeting hint hint). So who'll call it?
Beetles?
When? 27th of Sep sounds good to me? _________________ ( •_•)

Dredge dredge dredge :
(I hear no objections...)
NEXT EVENT: 24th of September.
Location: If we're playin with feathers its gotta be Jeffs...
What: Feathers and Beetles (beetle turn out at serial space was shameful. Moar beetles!)
For feathers, we can do a proper comp or something less destructive in preparation for the Brisbane event.
I may be able to bring the beetle arena components as well as all our other newly acquired assets eg. CO2 extinguisher. Also got all relevant dockets saved from arena construction and event stuff. Arena needs a home...

I will have at least one smaller bot, but the feather will still be purely in test mode, just for driving around an measuring traction and current draw.
Regarding the ant arena: what upgrades would NSW builders most like to see:
Different lighting.
Trapdoor
Internal video camera and TV projector
integrated base on wheels. probably a bit lower than your average table height
Something else...

Hazards/pit fo sure.
Testing of the feather only at this stage. Probably would only get the new battery in time just for then. Beetle or ant im easy with tbh _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Alright feather testing sounds good, something like a build day, mebeh can film for Steve's peace of mind.
I'm easy with the arena, but it did get mega hot at serial space, perhaps we need some cooler LED lighting? _________________ ( •_•)

Might I suggest putting pit on the edge of the arena rather than in the center. I like having the pit but when its in the center the fight becomes all about trying to stay out of it. And a lot of fights end with one robot accidentally falling in.
I kind of like the idea of an interactive pit... Perhaps one that only opens if a robot rams a switch or one with an LDR and detects a bot on it for a certain number of seconds before deploying? Our ant arena may be a little small for just a normal wide open pit. _________________ ( •_•)

Isn't our arena about the same size as the old QLD one? I was going to make a double door, with each side indepentently controlled by a giant servo, so we can start by opening just half the pit - lots of possibilities!
We can certainly make it interactive; another option is to have an audience controlled button that opens the pit for a short time - something that could be tied to the premium tickets.

hah yeah totally, a robot wars pit would be sweet. I used to love it when the competitors used to smash the button off the arena XD _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts
