Well for the last and final time i have settled on a desighn
After loosing much of my hair i have settled on a 4 wheeled bot with 4 black and decker drill motors and will be invertable with a 3inch drum on the front aprox 3.5kg or more running of a model plane starter motor at 18v and if possible retimed to run eaven better.
I had to give up the evs for now to make the bot be able to run invertable\DAMN FLIPPER BOTS.
But i have plans for my little collection of ev's later on
Well i better get a move on then _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

I take it that this is a lightweight ?
I cant see you fitting a 4 drill drive drumbot with that big plane starter and batteries plus a 3.5kg drum into 13.6kg.. unless you're using magnesium or titanium for everything.. just sounds a bit too optimistic for me..
remember that if it *is* a lightweight, that you cant compete with spinning lightweights at the next RoboWars event..
If you are aiming for featherweight, I'd make sure you can easily change to 2wd and replace the 2nd pair of drills with some lightweight castors or skids or something, given its your first bot, you might be surprised at how hard it is to make the weight.. everyone always seems to end up a few Kg heavier than they thought they would.. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Its a feather.
1.5kg batts
0.5wheels
1.8 4 drive motors
1.0 for wire ibc and relay and any other elec crap
1.75 weapon motor
1.0 armor.thats with allmost ouble leway
=7.55 which leaves 6.05 and the frame will be about 2kg and say if im wrong and its 3.05kgs i still have 3kg for the drum
The drum will be build after the bot is finished so i can make it the right weight. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

a few things you forgot
bolts/fasteners
mounts
extra armor (i doubt 1kg will be enough for armor unless your going to make everything outta lexan or carbon fiber)
cable ties (i dont think i have ever seen a bot with out em)
bearings for weopon
weopon's power transmission (from motor to weopon)
weopon motors mounting points (for a motor that size it will need some megga uber mounting to stop it wriggiling lose and wrecking your internals)
and other such thingamywhatzits
as you can see there are plenty of things that you need to account for but if you can get everything done and working in the weight you have said it will fit into (7. what ever) that thats a major acchievement but i still think your being optimistic the general rule is that you set it 2kg more than you initially plan and your close to it then... but thats even if your luckey.
btw what are you planning to use for the drum because my light weight (nike goddess of victory) is almost exactally what you have said you want to have only nike will be running fanmotors with belt reduction to the wheels and fan motors with belt reduction to the drum (with 2 7ah bats in it if it will fit else drill cells) if your interested in what im planning for nike i can post up a very primitive cad drawing of her _________________ as a shadow is seen and not heard i am here

I didnt know you where building a bot like that.
Hope you dont think i was copying you
ok chain bearings bolts and fasteners come to 800grams not incl mounts
5.25 left for frame and drum. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Ok then..
be aware though.. there is *ZERO* Tolerance for overweight bots at the december RoboWars Event.
If you exceed 13.60 Kilograms (by our scales), you will have to remove armour/batteries/or whatever until you are legal weight, or forfeit the match.. so be careful..
and All Robots will be weighed on the way into the arena before *every* match, there will be scales at the arena door with the judges. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people

Ther are two size starter motors i can use and if worst comes to worst i can use the smaller one which weighs just over half the weight and allso the weapon drum will be made after the bot is done so i know exactly how much weight i have to spare and can make the drum acordingly _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

nah its alright i wont start nike for a while yet i gotta get tsng done to satisfaction first. i was just pointing out that there are a few things that get over looked. as i have weighed everything that is going into my bot it comes up at about 8 or so kg well i expect it to be a few more kg more than it is in theory _________________ as a shadow is seen and not heard i am here

My weapon will prob be more like a 3inch round solid steel bar prob about 10cm wide with teeth and another interchangable one that has the same steel bar but with small saw blades on each side so its like a kinetic saw blade and that one i will use on the plastic bots as the drum with the teeth wont realy efect polycarb i dont think?
I could make a longer hollow one but i think having all the weight in a shorter drum would have more energy then the longer drum? _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Everything is coming along nicely now and the weapon will be a pussy cat style balde as iv decided to beef upo the frame and baseplate more then i was going to.
It looks like i will get it done intime for the big event just have to get some mounts"hint hint" and bolt it all together once the frame is done _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Hey Tim,
If u r waiting for something else to do go and buy some cheap white 10mm ish thick plastic choppingboards and use them for mounts.
In my next robot (clamp bot) i will make my own mounts using l bracket, threaded rod and chopping boards carved to the right shapes etc etc.
NOthing against nicks mounts as they r first class but cheaper and doable plus they can be a backup plan if nicks dont make it intime. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

bah. That stuff is the best thing to work with. U can use a holesaw for the can holder bit easily enough and use a jigsaw and a rotart file or something for the d shaped section. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics
