anyway looking over kang it seems the fans are too big to fit into the battery bay might need to look at somewhere else to put them..
just cycling the batteries as im sure they where really flat when i tested it out... might be why the motor wasnt turning because i swear i could hear the relay clicking on and off really fast. at the moment there at 23.2v with 1179mah discharged so the batteries are looking quite good at the moment anyway which is good to see. those nimhs have really surprised me wrt to durability. they just keep going.
i think ill just be finishing my mega motor into kang next anyway. i cant really make the weapon extend any further otherwise it hacks off its own wheels so i might as well just make the weapon work as it is. this motor now has the wires coming out the side, i want to put some new bearings in it and itll be timed as well... just need to get the brushes back in to it. and ey (in a the fons style voice XD). oh yes and i figure the reason the saw keeps smacking into the ground is because the tabs on the motor bend.. so im going to weld some thicker steel on over the tabs then put a triangle onto the motor (using a very quick tack weld at low power...).
and ill put some spring washers on the bolts holding the saw on to stop em falling off. not to mention i need to go and get another big saw blade. that one i had on at robowars is about half the weight of a normal one.
why one motor is screwing up is still a mystery... i had a look at the motor itself and the wires are still soldered and it was working when i left brisbane so i guess its either just died all together or another wire has broken somewhere... ill need to pull them out in any case to give them a thorough cleaning out..
still good to see the frame is standing up well. just as i thought there are lots of big chunks out from jolt and reboot and all the others from time but its all still straight _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

took both drives from kang today. managed to get one wheel off.. barely.. it was already loose so thank god for that lol. i put that washer on the front of the gearbox so it wont slide out again. pondering whether i should now loctite the wheel in all together.
the other drive motor is a different story. COMPLETELY ANNIHILATED. well thats abit much lol but im sure its just worn out from old age because both the brushes are now not there.. i would say they havent blown off because both tabs are still perfectly intact. this was a scrap original motor so no real surprises there i guess hehe. if anyone has an 18v motor to sell let me know
the batteries will be good to get thrashed around for another day if the new people want to have a drive..
as for the weapon motor its sort of working if you give it a kick start hehe but i did get back to work on the new motor. i just popped in two brushes without the springs and gave it a bit of a run, playing with the timing. this will be quite a hardcore motor if i can fit the brush springs back in _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Lol so how many motors have you put through those same gear boxes now glen ..you will have to write me up a full report on them soon how how many battles they have been in and testing time ,how the houseings are going any probs with them any mods that might need doing .Wheather the ring gears are still holding in or if they have moved what voltage motors you have tried what wheel size and types etc etc lol .

lol ah k then here goes
mods.. the only problem i had was with the gearbox sliding out of the casting which i fixed by putting that screw on plate over the front. no problems with gears breaking, pins snapping or anything of that nature. the mounts still work great for the motors and they havent loosened up in a battle or bent or anything.
wheel size just the 95mm blue wheels from jake, and voltages hey lol ahhh 2 12v motors at 24v and then this 18v motor at 24v but ive killed at least 5 9.6v ones with the old setup..

yay my ninchi ra monster motor is back in commision
i finally found by drilling some holes behind the brush holders then looping some solder around the brushes i could slide the arm back in slightly then pull it out, if you dont have stupidly long fingernails you can just forget about trying to remove the solder LOL!!!!
but anyway it really runs hard at 25 degrees advancement, it just runs 20 amps continuous and is meltingly hot at 3 minutes run time and it runs at 5 amps neutral timing so im thinking of setting it up at 12 amps then sticking it back in there. ill put a video up now _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

For my 300watt mod, I just drilled holes near the brushes and locked them in with paper clips... _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

i tried that but A the paperclips wouldnt hold the brushes in and B the shape of the end bell is wierd as hell so you couldnt drill the holes beside them _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

well looks like i might have a new motor for kang ill shove in, in the morning of the event. and im also looking through my dead cells to see if ive got another one to put back in for that good old fashion 24v lovin
no wedges again.... back on with the blast matting and im still wondering what i should do about the weapon motor. leave the semi working one in or put the mega one in... im not so sure how long itll last. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

okay blast mat back on, batteries, back in, one side drive, bolted in and loctited. just need that other motor and its all good.
that motor definitely has one section dead in it. however you dont notice it when its running with the saw on there... but none the less if theres time ill put my new motor in there :p this one can be backup plan b. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

did you check the comutator conections ..?some times the the winding comes unatached .Either the crimp on bit that conects it comes lose or on types that are soldered some times come unsoldered and that section loses power .
Also check that it hasnt gone to ground by checking that there is no citcute between the com and the armeture iron core .Usualy if you get a closed circutet on that part you get a direct short some where altough in our game we dont ground the motors back to the batery so it might not show up but would allow power to run through the chasiss if the motor is in contact with it .

well i havent found another good cell out of the 20 spares i now have so more searching...
BUT i did take the old motor out ready to tear down and inspect. AND put the new MEGA motor in woah it seriously spins hard now. it seems to have lowered the current draw a bit and spins much more efficiently then it did without the blade on it so good deal. but it will still melt itself XD i reckon theres a good 50% increase in speed now. id put up a video but botclips wont let me on
to hold the end bell on the motor i used 3 tack welds, it didnt seem to hurt it any which was a concern.. i still have to lower the motor some as its rubbing on the ground once more but easy done. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

ahhh most excellent, i found a good cell to use! so for this event kang will be fielding a far more powerful saw at full voltage and the drive will work this time, seeing as though it wont slide around and the wheel is loctited on
also found the T connector pins has twisted so ill try straighten it out. failing that ive got a spare one i can put on.. its shorter so hopefully itll work.
