would it be worth trying to emulate the visual style of the robot wars TV show? Just to try to connect the two together thematically?
IE. The info screens they displayed for each bot before a match _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Its up to you guys, though perhaps rather than trying to look like them some kind of work alike with nswrfc branding would do?
But yeah some kind of info screen would be made of win.
Info screen then video with a timer overlaid somewhere, start recording when the match starts, stop when its over and add the thing to the fight in the database.
The "down the track" version could perhaps add the visuals to the video along with scoring info and such automagically ready for a youtube upload. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets
Automatic video recording would be way too much of a pain IMO. You would need it to be triggered by the battle puter which means it has to be connected to the camera somehow. Then if you run 3 classes do you move it from arena to arena...
If you want to do something then add an interface to the Youtube API through python GUI which allows you to attach 1 or more videos then uploads them with correct details to NSWRFC youtube page. That way can just grab fights from cameras and dump them straight on there. Also maybe upload to server for storage and later editing if your automating stuff.

Bot info screens would be easier if there is just one bot per screen and we alternate them before a match. That way, each bot's details can be prepaired before the event and no custom combinations are required.
What 'look' do we want for the backgrounds? I liked the grungy industrial look of the recent QLD event posters, but we could do do something futuristic.

Hmm could probably get Anthony to do some templates if you want. He has assignments atm but can probably do video/static ones which would only need text/pictures put in. _________________ Steven Martin

I've only seen videos for 2 out of 6 of Fury Jr's fights. Was my robot driven the correct side up in the other fights? Its annoying to know my robot won the final and not getting to see it.
Also waiting for my radio and box to be returned.
