RoboWars is coming to Brisbane ! - 29 March 2006

A few of you have no doubt heard rumblings about this. Well, today it has been confirmed...

RoboWars is coming to Brisbane ! Cool

Thanks to "The Ideas Festival", the SideTracked / RoboWars arena is going to be shipped across the country-side and set up in the center of Brisbane (SouthBank), for a huge 3-day event that will no doubt have a massive public attendance..

More information on Ideas is here http://ideasfestival.com.au/

I'll fill you guys in on the details as they develop, but I wanted to get an announcement out so you can start planning..

A little under 3 months to go. now wheres that stick for Aaron ? Werent you supposed to be ready by now ? Wink

Also, one for the Kero's, not yet definitely confirmed, but looking quite likely (pending Approval from the venue safety people) - FlameThrowers may be allowed ! Twisted Evil

Before everyone runs for their Oxy-Torch, The rules are going to be tight for these special weapons. - I will require that any potential flame-thrower builders convince me that you know what you are doing and are technically competent to handle this type of equipment.. Inexperienced 16 year old builders need not apply for this type of weapon.

There will be limits on fuel capacity and type and you will be expected to keep fire extinguishers in your pit area, not toast the arena polycarb, spill puddles of fuel on the ground, and generally behave in a very responsible mature fashion with these things..

I have to review the RFL rules on flame throwers and discuss things with the venue guys.. but its looking quite likely. SideWinder might get its wish after all.. Smile Discussions on this in the relevant flame-thrower thread please. Keep this thread for event-related stuff.

More info as it develops, but I got the go-ahead today !

Cool

Thinks of a cross between Brett and Philip.

Aaarghhh, run away.

I think I'll still try a flame thrower, but only for demos. That means I get to build a second robot. Very Happy
