Hi! I am actually looking to use Lexan as a window for an underwater enclosure. I had no idea that there was such a big difference between different polycarbonates.
Would someone know of a source of Lexan in Sydney, where I could get a sheet of Lexan - preferably something I could go scuba diving with ? I guess it would be at least 10mm thick..
Also, I could not find any source of Marine sealants - the one I looked at was polyurethane based, 3m 5200 Fast Cure Marine Sealant. The Sikaflex 291 and 292 that is commonly available does not seem to have the required strength.
Thanks!

Mulford Plastics is probably the cheapest, I think they only sell full sheets
Cut-to-size Plastics has less range but does what their name implies
Dotmar Plastics is a bit expensive but (supposedly) has a good range and engineering help.

Offcuts
Thanks Nick. Any idea if someone provides offcuts too. I want to practice cutting them first, and the amount I need is really small to waste on an entire sheet.
I looked at the Mulfords range and the sheets seem quite large. My need was actually 10cm by 10cm or thereabouts.
Cheers!

Almost nobody does off-cuts For a small size piece, Cut to Size Plastics is definitely your best option.

Sucks
Any idea what pricing to expect from Cut to Size (and the smallest pieces that they can do)
Ahhh. Sometimes I wish I had access to Amazon. 4 bucks for a 12"x24" Lexan sheet by a company called Small Parts Inc in the states

No idea on the cost, but CTS can give you an instant quote over the phone. I found them relatively cheap. Any reason you can't order from O/S?

myself and andrew built our first few robots out of polycarb we found at a local private hardware store. 6mm and 10mm thick and came in some fairly huge sheets too - like 1m x 1m. i guess its where you look
if you want to practice cutting it get a $10 chopping board from big w and attack that with a jigsaw to see what your in for. it cuts the same more or less. you just have to pour water on the cut to stop it "welding" back together after the cut.
if you want just some random scraps to play around with im sure i have some old broken chunks of 10mm floating around _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Overseas
Actually I just looked at Amazon closely. The price doubles if I order overseas but still not bad.
I might practice on some offcuts and then order when I am sure of the thickness that I need.

Anyone know a place like NSW's "Cut to Size" in Victoria? _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.

Not sure if its the right thread but.
While i think of it it would be a good idea to sweep after every match not just after a spinner makes a decent amount of mess as if i remember correctly last event i judged at and other events there was arena crud getting jammed in peoples wheels. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

I have a pretty large sheet of 10mm polycarb sitting around.
It's in pretty good condition, but has had a few hinges bolted in along one edge (was used as a door on a boat)
It's about 600 x 1400mm from memory.
hehe just saw the date on this thread _________________ The Engine Whisperer

I don't really think is should be part of any 'rules', it is more of a personal choice for contestants. For important matches where I see too much crud in the arena, I sweep the arena myself to improve my chances. It should either be up to the competitors who made the mess or the competitors who follow them. I'm happy as long as the EO provides a broom!

I recons the judges could do it as part of there duties.
No one wants to go out cos there was a mess in the arena its not right. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Suppose so but after if i'm competing and it looks messy i'll take it upon my self to make sure its sweeped to my satisfaction. If people can't be bothered then I suppose it's a bit so so. I've never really seen anyone go out because if debris anyway. _________________ ( •_•)
