we got the stuff to make the mould but the urithane we have is out of date so we'll probbly need another tin of that but that isnt the end of the world.
how do you feel about blue ? ;->
for $15 we can do whatever you want though in terms of colour

Blue is fine - anything opaque is OK, really . I will be gluing the hubs this weekend and I can drop them off some time next week. I was thinking that a primer might be a good idea to make the urethane stick better. Devcon make one for their range of urethane casting products and I can pick some up if you don't have anything. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

At the moment we build a few petrol scooters at home. We use a shaft straight off the motor on to the wheel and the main problem we have is the wheel wearing down.
I was wondering if you could coat a few shafts in urithane to stop this?
How hard is it to make a mould and how much would it cost me?
Or if you reckon i could do it myself any advise would be great? _________________ Steven Martin

hey, if possible could u post pics of email it to me please as i would love to see them and details of what motors u use and general stuff like that.
Thanks heaps.
Im building a pocket bike and its sorta nearing completion, not the same but meh. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics
Well we have sorta done a few i might see if i can get some on the weekend. This one is a rebuild of our second one the scooter the motor was on was crap. How are you driving the pocket bike it is actually fairly similar. For this we're just using a wiper sniper motor as it is less than 25cc and is legal to use on the road (classified as power assisted bicycle). Dad also made one with a chain saw motor I think it was three times the legal limit and lets just say I didn't make it go as fast as it could and if you leaned back slightly with full throttle you could lift the front wheel.
I will see about some pics have to get it working again. Might do a video instead. _________________ Steven Martin

mmm i'd like to see that too! Just for the record... did you know the average small rc plane engine a beginner would get puts out 1.3hp? Thats pretty insane for something that small! How would you use a whippersnipper engine? I thought they didn't have a clutch so its either ON or OFF no in between.. though i dont know much about engines lol! PS we should carry on this conversation out of poor jakes wheel thread. _________________ ( •_•)

man thats cool.
How dou use a whipper snipper motor because they neer stop turning dont they like a lawnmower engine which would make eeyrthing hard. Please explain if possible as id be interested in doing something like that.
The chainsaw one sounds hardcore, always wanted to use a chainsaw motor in something rideable.
Please pics and LOTS of details if possible. As ride on things r cooooool and fun.
My pocket bike is pretty much mechanically done besides some welding (alot of welding on this thing) and getting running gear going (sprocket mounted properly to wheel and motor in and mounting batts (requires drilling 4 holes) and wiring it up etc
The motor is simply a 300 watt electric motor from oatley with the drive train gear that they also sell.
Everything from materials and everything i either already had on hand so this thing has maybe cost me nothing so far minus the original cost to buy the stuff. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Damn you andrew getting the drive chain BEFORE they sold out!
Hey andrew make sure your bike doesn't have any sharp corners as a crash is bad enough let alone getting impaled on your sticky-outy bits! _________________ ( •_•)
There's some pictures. I have a video if you want it I can send you the torrent. _________________ Steven Martin

everything is pretty safe actually angus, sure u cn get scratched etc on something but lesson is dont crash.
Ill grind stuff down when its done and before paint etc and get it even safer.
Will be getting it home wednesday so will get some pics up round then.
Also i got the chain and sprocket setup months and months ago, i traded andrew (dumhed) two winch motors for that setup including motor etc (have u used it yet andrew?)
Nice work there marto, sems alot simpler than i once thought as it looks like u got a scooter like in shop and stuck a whipper snipper motor on it without too much modifications. I like it as its so simple and non stressful.
Jeff Js (giantrobo's) kid ashton ( think thats it) had at his place ages back a LOOONg bike with a motor same setup as yours mounted to front wheel.
looked really cool.
So how did u do it, what tricky things r required, what speeds u get up to and km travelled before refueling and anything to keep in mind or to watch out for as im very interested in doing something like that next year when theres time beause it looks so incredible simple.
Did u need to modify theshaft of the motor or something also.
Also in relation to your first post about your problem do u think maybe one way to fix it or improve it would be to mount a wheel on the shaft and friction drive with wheel to wheel instead of shaft to wheel.
so cool.
