By Robert team Rotwang

We are mourning the loss of a long time friend and team mate Brett Paulin. Brett and Gary, go a long way back with the Charger Club days and later Robowars collaboration.

We will miss his friendly personality and the endearing enthusiasm he had for all things mechanical and tech. We are shocked and saddened by the loss and it leaves a big hole to fill without Brett a short call away for technical advice. Brett has been nearing the final stages of his Charger build. It was a unique build with computerized glass cockpit custom coded TCP/IP, custom fuel injected, progressive brake taillight illumination and many more of Spockie Techs custom touches. Gary has recently assisted Brett with some final pieces and last heard Brett had finished the wiring. We hope that he did get the Charger on the road.

Brett had an invaluable part to play in with the design of robot electronics, event organiser and provided a place for people to talk and offer advice. Its safe to say Robowars wouldn't have got off on the leg it had without Brett's leadership and electronic wizardry. It was special to have him back to support the most recent Robowars in QLD and in the new wave of Melbourne Combat Robotics. There was talks about coming back to compete with a new combat robot. He was a formidable driver back in the day.

I think you have to be a little eccentric to be a combat robot builder, it goes with the territory. We will miss the eccentric tinkerer, his generous advice and the enthusiastic discussions we had.

RIP Brett Paulin
