NSW 2014 event calendar
Just to start things off, what weight classes are most people interested in this year? I will have a new feather going in a month or so and there is a Mini Mangle beetleweight that I might get running later on. I have some of the bits for a sportman, but it needs a heap of work.

Definitely sportsmans are what I'm keen on! Demon is still going fine but bit bored of it. Wouldn't mind a beetle event but obviously have to set the arena up for it somewhere which could be a bit of pain in the butt _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Also keen on beetles, and feathers of both kinds
less keen on ants _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

BUMP
Wish we could tag people on the forums Facebook style
Also with dates, April 16th for me is out in advance (doing superbike school then, yeaaaa!)
I should add that with all my stuff in storage until I find a house, I will be unlikely to be able to participate in an event within the next few months. Not for lack of wanting to _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Early April is also out for me - I will hopefully be in the UK. It sounds like we are starting off with beetle and sportman events; how soon can people get a bot running?

I *may* be able to dig around in the shed and pull out Hammerhead and enough gear to maintain it for an event, but i think a feather is out of teh question at this stage
I had some changes planned for Hammerhead, shorter brushless and printed drive mounts, I can probably make it ready to go as-is tho _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Mine too - if you can squeeze around all the stuff in there.
How many locals have 3D printers now? Perhaps its time to look at a beetle sportsman class where as much as possible is printed?

not terribly much learning required
if you're thinking of buying one, i suggest careful consideration about the bed size. The UP mini is super awesome, but a pro like you might find the 120x120 bed size super restrictive _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Yeah, I was always thinking about the build envelope, it would be very useful to have extra space in at least one axis. I am having a bit of a poke around printer reviews and will think about it.

Yeah, the mini's are nice and reliable but the build volume is a bit small. The latest makerbot looks great but it's a bit too smoke and mirrors for me at the moment, plus you'll be looking at a 4K+ price point once it's landed.
Sorry guys, but as I'm moving i've packed up my workshop and won't be building any bots for a while... Roadkill is still working and ready to go, but I can't build any new bots. _________________ ( •_•)
Yes it is, but not by heaps, 140mm width, 140mm depth, 135mm height. And higher resolution of 0.15 mm. Some other improvements also. More pricier at 1950 ex GST and shipping, and no enclosed cabinet. Still not a bad option tho I reckon _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam
