Well guys its that time of year again. We are holding our nationals championships to find out who has the best combat robots in Australia. This year we hope to run a even better event with more robots, more spectators and many more great battles.

The details are as follows.

Date: October 5th/6th, 2013
Venue: Ipswich Art Gallery
Classes: Ants & FeatherWeights
Time: 9am - 4pm

Entry Fees: Antweight $10 , Feather $30
Payment through bank deposit.

Prizes: Given the response of people in the prize money thread I have decided to scrap the club offering cash prizes. I would prefer to offer donated prizes. Which there will be. I also hope to do some trophies which are worthy of a sport on your self. I will also have some sweet as medallions for 2nd and third.

There will also be a prize for best school entry in the featherweight class. I am hoping to get some schools competing this year so I think they deserve their own prizes.

Other Activities: I am planning on hosting a Builders & Friends evening Sunday night after the event is done. Dinner and celebratory/commiseratory beverages is the plan. Details will be announced at a later point but remember Monday is a public holiday so no one has to work or bail early.

There will also be a display on at the gallery which will have the BotBitz GreenAnts running for the two days so kids can come along and have a play. They will also be for sale through the gallery.

Other Details:

Why no Beetles or 3 Days?
Well these two are both a compound issue. In discussions with the gallery, they thought that a normal family (which is pretty much our target audience) would come for maybe one or two days of action and wouldn't really ever come for all three. So in response to this they asked if we could potentially be able to condense it down to 2 days. Unfortunately for me this comes at the expense of running beetles which considering there has been what like 5 fights total and one event this year to me seems warranted.

I am also looking at having an "Event hotel" which I could hopefully get a pretty good discount at. Current thoughts are Metro Hotel International if anyone has any experience with it let me know.

Also I am always looking for volunteers for the event day.

I just found out I will be required to play at a band competition in the city the same days as the nationals. I might need to give my robots to other people while I run off to blow my bone. But I need to wait a few more months to see the schedule and find out when I need to be on stage.
