Sounds good Chris. I have some time owing from work so I can pick up materials with a few days notice.

I really need to line up a machine shop with good milling capabilities for some Robolympic parts. Nothing fancy, just bulletproof and accurate.

Would either of those machine shops take on small quantity jobs? I can give them proper CAD drawings and model parts.

BTW: I still have the invoice for all the arena polycarb in your business name - want it for tax time?

The mian bit would be the ali wheels, which are pretty much like yours with slots or pockets across the edge - like a gear with little teeth every 8mm or so. The bar magnets glue in between the teeth for some shock protection.

I'm no machinist, but this sounds like it needs a mill and an indexing head. There are about 30 evenly spaced 2.5mm deep slots to be cut in each wheel.

What I would REALLY appreciate is to get your expertise in casting the urethane tread after the magnets are attached. From testing, the tread has to be thinner and harder than the stuff on Plan B - it might be good to cast in some Kevlar (radial belted bot wheels ? Rolling Eyes ) to stop the thin tread coming off. I will leave that to your judgment though. I'm happy to pay all the mateials and whatever you think its worth - its definitely an R&D project as I don't recall any bot sites doing quite the same thing

I am ordering fifty 25 x 8 x 2.5 NIB magnets next week, which is enough for two 65mm wheels.

Edit: I forgot to mention that if this works, I will be sneaking around to Jeff's and flooring the arena with steel plate Laughing

you just study welch, some of those exams are damned whack.

so is it saturday?

also jeff j, if i gave you the tape could i possibly get marayong 3,5 and 7 on tape?

and one final thing in regard to marayong 8 - i propose a death match at the end.

what do i mean? well a rumble but we dont stop after 5 minutes, we just keep going till everyones batteries go flat or everyone is disabled, just like marayong 4 Very Happy anybody interested.

i would rather just keep to the rules as i would hate to die or have to keep running and maybe smoking a motor or a controller or something just because its a death match. I will do a rumble when i have a robot but not a death match.

Do I have time to order a Mr Fusion Battery?

Let's do it, but with a set way to judge a winner; if its just the last bot to run down, that's not very exciting.
