I disagree. The majority of people I have spoken to (builders, audience, event organisers etc etc), it's the destruction and carnage that attracts everyone. What changes that is when they start building, competing and running events, then the carnage becomes less popular.
Builders start to run out of funds to keep rebuilding robots or shift to simple, less entertaining designs to "just stay in the game".
Competing gets less fun when it becomes a war of attrition (who has most spares/money). One hit and the fight is over.
Event Organizers struggle to keep the action going for the audience because half the robots are broken within the first few rounds.
In recent times, we have shifted to the Sportsman / Non Spinner events to keep people interested, fresh and creative, yet still keep the spinner events for our big Nationals event, which is all about who has the biggest, baddest robot, no bars held! _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/
