Hi all
Still doing all the with my left hand only (but the right is eager)
I just bought a new end mill with replaceable carbide tips from
SEI Carbide Aust 1300307099 there in penrith
The deal is you buy the 10 tips cost is $100 and the body is free and you have a choice of body's 25,down to 12 mm size wise
I have found that there got time to talk with you and willing to help.

Hi Russell,

Good to see you are still working on stuff, having broken a shoulder myself, I really cringed when I heard you had broken your 10X worse! The carbide mills sound interesting, particularly down to 12 mm. I can totally see a new face mill in my near future Smile

Edit: Damn these guys have some top tools! How are their prices?

my recollection is they are in the "not outrageous but worth the price" range.
IE don't get stuff your going to use once from them, but if its a cutter your going to use allot then its probably worth getting the good stuff. They made a big difference just with their carbides on the lathe Vs the generic stuff from hare & forbes.

EDIT -

reminds me,

i need to work out how to machine a perfect equilateral triangle out of some 10mm aluminium.

not sure what the best way to go about it is.. only way i can think of was to just mark it out and mill it accurately but i dont think itll come out good enough.

is there some kind of angled blocks or method for doing it accurate?

dividing head or rotary table is out of the question for me but if thats the only way to get it done then ill have to outsource it Sad

cheers

Well there's a small part of the reason turbines are so insanely expensive Laughing

I ordered some end mills from Hong Kong(ebay), there still in the mail but they were cheap. Also received a cheap dial indicator today from there as well, looks fine and will suit my needs.

anyone know of a decently strong plastic thats not conductive and fairly easy to machine?

need to make some more parts for demon like the controller mount / terminal blocks but the white plastic im using now rips apart in places. so something quite a bit harder would be good.
