Marayong Season5, Round 8 - 06/12

Its the last event of the year and you can bet Scissorhands will be there for a big finale! There are some almost finished / repaired bots around, will we see them in time?

ill say what i have said for the last 4 events that i have failed to come to, misfortune will be there... i leave school in a couple of weeks which will mean ill have heaps of time to get it going.. well it was ready last event until i turned it all on and the ibc shit itself..

while I'm at it, with the ibc only one drive seems to be working would that be the avr chip screwed again?

If the avr is gone generally nothing will work on the board at all
It could be a hip chip or a fet.
does it work in one direction or another?
if so then its probably a fet, if nothing at all then probably the HIP chip but that is unusual to go without a fet.

only 1 drive works normal, the other doesnt move at all forward or reverse.. is it a simple thing to fix or would i need someone to have a look at it for me... i want to get a XXL but with the current economy its a bit expensive atm

I'm a little wary of the XXL, Ours has died twice.
I'm going to take a closer look at it but i think its missing some protection bits that will keep the magic fets alive. They should be fine but i wonder if 18 volts is a bit too close to the wind for them.
First time one of the fets shorted through to the logic side of the chip stopping the other chip from working. That was an odd one, that side was basically just floating.

This time we have lost drive in one direction, so i'm guessing its probably blown the fets on one quater of its bridge either open and the reverse is working or closed and its shorting in one direction.

Probably easiest to look at it with a scope, so you can see where the actual stuff is happening. Typically though when the fets blow they will explode good.

Scissorhands is still waiting on a radio. It was in stock when I ordered it, then they told me it would be 3 weeks Evil or Very Mad. Apart from that, the bot just needs a polish and a fix for the power light.

Just a few days to the season finale! We seems to have quite a few bots nearly ready to go; who will actually be there and with what?
