Proposal:
I put out some feelers, but it doesn't look too likely that the Vic Open Titles at Sidetracked are going ahead; there hasn't been any talk of it for most of this year. If that is the case, how about an event change in NSW? We had a planned non-combat day on the 7th of July and that could be expanded into a regular competition, a mega build day (possibly at Chris's work), an arena fix-up day, or some combination of all three.
Getting some club bots ready before Battleshed is a must, so this might be a good time for it. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

WOW!!! Thinking more than one event in advance.... I don't know if that's allowed.
Probably a good idea considering. I suggest we do the build day in between events and organise a weekend to do them. On the day of the Vic Open it would be best utilised as a normal round. When doing the calender it was considered as a normal round with enough time between each event.

Firstly; points updated.
Secondly; There will be a build day next weekend on saturday. The aim of which is to keep motivated after an event, build club bots and assist people with theirs. There was talk event before last of Chris wanting to do it up his way, but if we don't hear from him then it will be at Jeff's
Thirdly; We need to decide on the next round situation. Make it a normal round? Make it a build day? My suggestion was bring the round after 2 weeks forward, with build days in between. Means one less round but plenty of time leading up to battleshed.
What do people think?

I think I will be on the wrong side of the planet
Speaking of club bots, I was thinking of turning the drill motors and assorted parts I found into a tyre bot - fairly low maintenance and the replacement shells are free. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

this was brought up yesterday and thought i would be the person to get the conversation ball rolling on the idea.
it was discussed to change event dates so we have say 3 or 4 events a year spaced 2-3 months apart as with work/other commitments etc doing something descent for a event every month or close to is getting very hard.
Also with more time between events we can get more done/things finished better off/tested plus its only 4 dates to lock around other schedules and such.
Personally i would like it as i can get things done better plus each event should have large numbers as everybody will have something descent finished and hence can compete which is better than having a junked bot and only 4 weeks to get another one done and at same time being flat out with about 3 other things
anyways whatever is decided on im cool with but jhust wanted to throw it out there _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

I'm not sure; it feels like we are giving something up . Perhaps we could look at doing 4 featherweight events and 3 or 4 interleaved events with a smaller, cheaper class plus a featherweight test period? If that idea takes off, I would be up for building a portable mini arena.
Perhaps with only 4 events, we can turn them into 2 day affairs?
With 4 events per year, people will still sit around for weeks just talking about their design and then rush in the last few weeks to get it built / repaired, just like now... _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

lol yes i think that was agreed upon that it comes down to last week lazyness irregardless - so a build meet after the event could keep the ball rolling _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

XD for the tyre bot idea and about one event every 2 months/as they are now seems reasonable but as glen said build days + updates prob are needed to combat lazyness... _________________ A journey of a million miles begins with a single step followed by a hell of a lot of other steps so get walking

Need to determine what this "cheap class" would actualy be too. I've tried the insect bots, but truth be told... they cost more than the damn featherweights!
May need to look into a little servoswitch kit, with some proper plastic parts it would be pretty reliable and still cheap enough to put esc's out of the question. With that in mind, a cheap class could simply be servoswitch drives and fan motors for weapons... some sorta thing that rules out magmotors and dewalt setups.
Also, been having a lot of thoughts on making some kit bots when i get raptures frame cut. Just a quick hint now, but it will allow a nice range of *gasp* possibly effective n00b bots. Specialy if they got some sort of weight bonus. Picz later. _________________ ( •_•)
