yeah thanks for organising the day
now I finally know who you guys are Razz

Is anything going to be done to the arena floor?
some of you may have noticed the massive gaps which I ripped my castor off in Sad (that was where an entire floor plate was shifted)
and when we have actual events, will there be more lighting, coz I dont think you can record very well when it is dark Idea

Normally there are halogen floodlights set up for video on event days. Brett has ideas for some fancy lighting effects to.

For Arcade / Rental Bot use it will probably be fairly dark with lots of lights built in to the bots that light up as you feed coins into the consoles. Smile

I think a few of the guys has a possible date, not sure if it was a test and tune type get together or more of a state series event.

The little blue controllers sort of worked, I think the mixing in the DX5 wasn’t good enough, large dead band and one turned on forward and one reverse. Might try and IMX1 or maybe just a GWS?

Regarding the floor I vaguely noticed but had way too many things on my mind for it to really sink in.

A few possibilities, First of it can obviously be improved and probably will be before an event.

Second Barry was interested in elevating the floor so we could incorporate various effects and a pit.

Third possibility is modify your bot. every arena floor in Australia takes damage in the cores of big events and there is often debris torn of the bots to get high sided on.
Building to cope with less than perfect conditions generally improves your chances of winning.

In a comp castors get cut or riped off real quick.

Most time keeping the weight on the drive wheels and keeping the parts that rub as smooth as in free from bolt ends and spiky stuff works.

Builders meet video, just random few minutes; watch close for a glimpse of the Arcade/ Rental bot at the start. Wasn’t intentional but this one reminds me of a Red Dwarf Scutter.

I gave Brett a DX 6 and the instruction book after we worked out the DX5 mixing was driving one controller forward and the other backward but we both got distracted shortly after that and I don’t think anyone checked the polarities with the DX6. I didn’t.

Brett was thinking Gyro but by the time you put a mixer and a gyro in the bot its getting away from the cheap beginner combination.

We had a bit of extra testing information, when Overdrive went in for the first test run the BR6000 was just floating loose inside the bot.

Don’t know what happened but the RX got squashes bending a lot of the pins over shorting them.

Straightened them up and everything still worked. Smile

Either very lucky or they can limit there 5volt current but I suppose regular linear chips can so its probably not surprising.
