How are we traveling with ideas for the arena floor and general upgrades? I am pretty keen about the new steel floor and to get things moving before Battleshed, I will kick in a personal $500 after next pay day. That should get us at least half a floor...

Lets look at the current floor at the next event and decide what we can salvage to make the new floor as good as possible.

I believe one of the Dylon crew might be able to source some steel. However transport from Newcastle would be required. A sample was going to be provided to see suitability at the next event.

Ah I'm afraid I've never really been introduced to your family members/team etc. They were steel tiles that forklifts drive over and sometimes damage and become scrap? Does that help?

Nick
Last time i looked at the steel floor it came to around $1800 for a 4.8mt square floor and then we need a lot of labour to put it in place. Can do a MDF one much cheaper?

What we need more then your great offer is more members to spread the cost and load

Just wondering if anyone is willing to play host to a QLDer for a week around Battleshed. Looking at driving down on the 6/7th, attend a Circuit Club track day, then chill out for a week in Sydney before Battleshed. Just looking for somewhere to sleep, store my robot gear and park my car at night. Very Happy

Very welcome to stay with me Aaron... closer to bondi than Blacktown, but with Jason just around the corner we can get a ride to Battleshed easy. Smile

Very Happy Well after a club meeting on saturday it has been confirmed 5-6 folks will be building "lightweights', but it was decided for now to keep this weight class spinner free for now
This would mean robots using ,high energy spinning bars, high speed drums etc would not compete at this stage.
Once we are satified our facilities can withstand high energy weapons then we will look at allowing spinners into the class. Weapons allowed would be like ,flippers, crushers, rambots, flamethrowers, wedges, hammerbots etc
We will continue to have our regular "featherweight" season and run lightweights in conjunction with that season.

I just bought some of the 70rpm 12v gearmotors from jaycar and disected one, they look way higher quality than banebots and by the looks of things... can have one stage removed fairly easy for way better rpm. They're local, cheapish. Think we may be one step closer. Smile
