I have been Thinking about building a ICE powered Hydraulic wepon for the past week or so and I just wanted to get some more advice on it.
I was going to go and buy a Hydraulic pump but then found 2 of the down the back shed (the stuff you find in the back shed ) it's apparently a impliment pump off of a loader.
But now I'm just trying to figure out how much power I need to turn the bugger over ,I was thinking 6.5-12HP but I'm not quite sure?????
It's going to be driven by a double v belt fom the motor,I was thinking chain but then you have no give in it if it's overloaded
Mind you . .the rams and whatever don't need to be to fast but the need to have a bit of power, dunno but maybe down the track I might add a Hydraulic motor in it but for not it will only have 1-2 rams on it.
Any ideas,comments,abuse would be great!
Thanks

Maybe try to find a hydraulic pump from a car used for power steering? We found a hydraulic pump at PnP once but we opened it up and it had torn the piston into little metal shavings, shame as it was very cool. But I'm a newb on the subject so someone with more experience might know. _________________ ( •_•)
I was also going to have switches so that if I did get fliped or whatever it would cut the engine out and the if i did mange to get the thing back on it's wheels I could just start it an go!

lol, if its upside down and it doesnt have a diaphram carb on it then it will just stop by itself, and youd need an electric start if you wanted it to start again.
i tried to set up an electric start off a normal xu1 drill and it just wasnt fast enough to get it firing properly. maybe the two speeds would do it. your getting pretty heavy at that rate though. might as well just go all electric with the weight lol _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

If its an unmodified 4 stroke mower(ie not dry sumped) it will also spew oil every where when it gets tiped over
It'll be moded so that it dosen't spew oil every where
and I'm planing on getting one with a starter motor

id probably just use a big 100cc chainsaw or something like that. at least it would have a clutch diaphram carb and you could mod it for electric start fairly easy
