The ultimate plan is for a four wheel drive articulated loader with a drill powered winch to lift palms on and off a trailer. I have no idea if the motors would be powerful enough. Possibly the front axle could have dual wheels and motors, that is, four wheels and four motors on the front axle and two wheels and two motors on the back axle. There would need to be quite a few amp hours of battery power in there somewhere.
It would probably be easier to buy an Avante loader or similar. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

I started to fit the first wheel onto the trolley tonight. I decided to make the wheel go onto the 3/4 " axle. I bought some 1 " OD 3/4 " ID roller bearings. (They cost more than the complete wheel.)
I drilled a 1 " hole into the wheel centre and slid the bearing in. The wheel is a little too big for the axle length, but the angle grinder can fix that tomorrow.
The sprockets will be locked using the method descibed by Andrew W. The motors will be mounted onto a peice of flat on the back of the trolley. The flat will be attached to the trolley via U bolts so that the chains can be tensioned.
I will use drill triggers for speed control as Andrew A suggested. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

I've found some specs for the 100W motor. It is a MY6812 made by Unite Electric Motor co in China. The specs make for interesting reading, especially when you convert them to the output at the wheel.
For the motor
Rated load at 24V:
Torque in N/m 0.358
RPM 2815
Input power 105.53W
Voltage 24.13V
Amps 5.79A
Output power 139.90W
Efficiency 75.43%
The input and output powers are around the wrong way.
Now the interesting part, wheels are running at 370rpm (when driven by the belt, with a ratio of 14:87, thanks Neweyn for counting it for me!) and the torque at the wheels is a staggering 132.5N/m or 1352kg/cm !
EDIT: Actually as Glen comments further down the ratio is actually 14:87 or 1:6.21, so the torgue is 2.2Nm or about 23kg/cm. The motors I've got are made by JX motor co, so will probably have different specs again.

errr if the torque is 0.358nm at the motor wouldnt the torque at the wheel be around 2nm considering a 6.2:1 gear down.. and im guessing that would be the running torque not the stall torque?
and considering a drill pumps out about 13nm of torque i doubt you will get 10x the torque from a scooter. i can stop the shaft of a scooter on 24v quite nicely with my hand.
75% sounds about right though efficiency wise and i would say the powers are the wrong way around lol not sure how one would get more power out of the motor than you are putting in _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

your car has .6nm of torque?
that'll make those long uphill runs fun ;-P
dads V8 grand cherokee has 400 or so (and i think the prius isnt far off that) _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

heh, I ment to quote the

bit lol, redbook says mine has 140N/m @ 3500rpm, but that was a long time ago . . . 302 000km ago _________________ Jeff Ferrara

hah explains why my 20 year old telstar is more fun to drive than my brothers 2000 (or so) lancer
150NM @3500 vs 150NM at 4500
85 vs 86 kw too lol
not bad for 20 years (and 200 000 km ;->) _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

I know the colour is different but I went through all the 100W motors on their site and they all had the same specs
But they havn't put up the results for the full range of the motor. If you look at the graph you'll see they have only posted results for speeds between 3449rpm and 2515rpm. Looking at the graph they supply you can see that the power will continue climbing as the speed drops and the stall torque will be much higher. All they are telling you is the max torque on that paticular graph, not the max torque of the motors themselves.
Those graphs and numbers are just there to sell motors. Why else would they also say how many fit in a box on the same page.
Actually if you use those numbers the stall torque projects down to 1.8168Nm and the max output power is roughly 164W
And if you do the same thing for their 300W motors they actually work out to have a stall torque of 6.435Nm and a max power of 550W. I wonder what that does to the gear ratio on Avenger's axe.

theoretically yeah. but youd have a hard time doing it. jake and i rewound a 12v drill motor for like 1v for some reason and it shook itself to death heh. was cool _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

was hot, rember it burnt the thumbs lol.
Problem was balancing it, if you can make a balancer/get it balanced then it should be ok. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets
