probably wouldnt bother soldering wire onto the cells unless you have an 80w + soldering iron, youll most likely do more harm then good.

Bah! My pissy little Dick Smith 25watt soldering iron has soldered together 4 drill packs with 12 guage wire on each and I've yet to have problems! It's not the size of the tool, but how you use it Razz

Ok, stuff this, this thread is dedicated to cataclysm now, sorry for the confusment! Fixed up the probs caused by yesterday (not much), but i need to make new microswitch modules, as the ones I have now are way too flimsy. Thinking of ways to use nicks fan motor, as gearing it down would chew heaps of weight, i was thinking of maybe a flail. Wouldn't be TOO hard eh?

Anyway, i would just like to say that i had a GREAT time yesterday. I had fun fighting and all you guys were mega helpful when my micro's welded. I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT TIME!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

not really.
it might go close, but close is close to smoke.
the drill trigger controllers jeff has seem to work quite well though (and they wouldnt have that contact welding problem you wind up with either)
in the cheaper price bracket.

btw i think your bot is probbly the best first attempt we have seen at robot wars

probbly dont need an entire build day to do it
i think jeff has put photos online of it and i'm sure if you asked he'd tell you how.

he's done a fair bit of work getting them nice and simple too ;->

yeah here is how it works andrew from q-land comes up with complex cheap ideas then explains them to jeff who works on them untill he gets them to cheap simple and effective so if a new diy cheap concept comes out wait for jeff to run it a wee bit untill its easy then get him to show ya Razz jees if he can teach mark how to make em then he can teach any one Razz

You should see Andrew's latest versions, much more simple compared to the ones he originally taught Jeff to make and they even fit inside the battery case from the XU1 drill packs Razz

Next project will be making the 70amp speed controllers out of servo boards.

Took a good look at cataclysm today. I dont think it's easily upgradable, so i'm working on a new bot design. You won't guess what i'm going to use that fan motor for Nick! Got any more identical ones? Very Happy
