Nice!
I saw the last photo first and thought it was some sort of industrial strength gas burner at first glance haha _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Thanks guys I am really really impressed with how it turned out!
I think it close to a 1KG just for the teeth, everything is bisalloy except for the centre bearing holder, I originally thought that they were going to roll it but it looks like it was pressed, you can see the wedge marks on the inside.
seeing how uni homework goes should be spinning up by the weekend _________________ Creative Instigation - Build Something Awesome!
Perhaps cleaning would help, they look pretty filthy (probably a result of slipping) and you only have friction to do the job there.
Degrease with something suitable everything.
You can perhaps look at belt stick sprays?
Also the join is huge, you probably want to trim that down to stop it from starting to slip.
The forces in a 4 wheel drive setup like that are pretty immense btw, particularly at the final drive stage, if you get stuck try taking 2 of the belts off and going 2wd? _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

That round urethane belt is probably not up to hauling featherweights around. You could try shortening the belts to increase their grip. The pulley grooves look a bit wide; I think they need to be exactly the same width as the belt and have a round bottom so the belt gets maximum surface area in contact with the pulleys.
Another thing you could try is to put in some little idler pulleys so that the belt wraps further around the motor & wheel pulleys. An idler is also a good way to adjust belt tension.
You should trim back some of the urethane around the weld; every time that goes around a pulley, it risks popping the belt out of the pulley and decreases the contact area. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

I would just use one wheel each side.
Timing belts would add weight when you’re probably struggling to make the weight limit. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

@ Jake: LOL U beat me to it!
That stuff on the belt isn't dirt or grease, the belts rub aluminium off the pulleys and it bonds to the belt. It happens to my bots as well and it is almost impossible to clean off with any solvents I tried. For me al least, it doesn't seem to alter belt friction. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Run #25 chain (can get it and the sprockets for it on ebay uber cheap as pocket bike gear), it's not much bigger than the orange belt. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

I Like all ideas so far!
I will trim the excess weld off and spray some belt grip on/try to tighten them and if that fails I will go chain drive.
do you know if the sprockets come in any sizes smaller than 44mm glen? _________________ Creative Instigation - Build Something Awesome!
