My lathe just turned up. I got a drill bench and other tools.
And I'm a electronics engineer. Does that help.
Might be able to build something to go the Easterners.
And I worked in the animatronics game for a bit.

Whoa. Thats a pretty good start there mate. I build my machines using not too much more than a hacksaw, jigsaw, drill prerss (cheap 80 dollar one) and a angle grinder besides most hand tools that are easily available so being use to animaltronics and having a lathe is great. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

I just got a cheap lathe. It cost about $1500. It has everything I need and excellent quality. I got the cheap drill bench too. $80 at Bunnings.
All I need is a welder. Has any one in WA got a mig.
I'm thinking of getting a mill. But I'll wait till I pay the lathe off first.
Or get the attachment for the drill.
So if there are any guys in WA that want to start building give us a hoy.
We might be able to share resources and give these guy's a run.

With a drill press and a Lathe you will be able to build nearly any thing.
A Mill is handy but not essensal. unless your like me and like to complicate the design. (In other words your an Engineer like me.)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, how much from Shanghai? I always wanted to go toWA, escpecially Gerladton & Broome.
Knowing my luck, if i built a robot over here & tried to get it out of the country, I would be arrested for stealling top secret army hardware.

I think WA is the best place in Aussy. I moved from NSW to Brissy and back , then over here. Been her 4 years. Nice weather, exellent people and very cruisey life stile.
Just a bit isolated. But hey them are the breaks

Wa is real great. I have been around the whole of Australia and there is nothing better.

Geraldton and Broome are pretty boring apparently.
Also plane tickets to Perth can cost as little as $120.
Bones where do u live North or South of the river? _________________ Go and get STAWNED!

Andrew,
I currently live over here. I have my own apartment which is about 100sqm. It is more like a large 5* hotel room. Only cost about $125AUD a week. Things over here are *REALLY* cheap. Everything is priced for the locals who earn very little. My personal assistant has a uni degree, an earns about $15AUD a day & that is well paid. The cleaner earns less than $1AUD an hour.
I am currently working as the head design engineer for a company that designs & manufactures very large air filters. (Like 1,000,000 m^3 an hour).
My current contract finishes at the end of July. I will be moving home (Brisbane) then. I will then contract back to them, working from home
So if you need anything from over here (batts & motors) let me know soon, so I can track some down for you.
My wife & I have always wanted to travel through WA, so hopefully we can do that this year.
I want to go to geraldton for the windsurfing. Aparently it is some of Oz best sailing.
