I can get a scooter with a 100watt motor in it for $85 or two for $80 each "yay $5 off" is it worth getting them insted of buying the hole setup from oatlys after paying shipment and conversion rates?
How much in aus $ do they cost after shipping? _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Where did you think Oatley was located? They are just outside Sydney and I don't recall the postage bing more than $10. If you can use the chassis and speed controller then $80 for a scooter might be a good deal. If you just need some motors and wheels, then Oatley's kit is hard to beat.
One thing I don't like so much about the motors is the 3 screw faceplate mounting arrangement - the plate you mount the motor to can't be much over 2mm thick or the belt will rub on it. How are other builders mounting these motors? _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

No. The pully is moulded to the hub. _________________ Get Some!!!

can scooter belts be reinforced by some kavlar mesh molded onto the back of the belt with some rubber or polyurathane compound? _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

I very much doubt it! The belts should already have steel reinforcing molded into them. The belts have to stay thin to be flexible and the usual way the make a timing belt transmit more power is to make it wider or use several side by side. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Give the Oatley guys a call - the guy I spoke to was very helpful. Since a money order is almost cash, I'm sure you could just post them the MO and a letter with your order details. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

With Oatleys you can also do Direct Deposit, just email them asking and they will send there bank details.
OT: I'm just about to buy some spur gears to put on my scooter drives to save the hassle of breaking belts. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/
