tighten an allen key in the chuck and whack it with a hammer in the counter clockwise direction. That'll bust the chuck loose from its thread. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Glen, did you figure out what size grub screw to use on this drill?
I will go to Speciality Fasteners tomorrow to get the screw and taps.

If you force the grub screws in without tapping, the grub screws stay in better. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Can confirm the Kmart drills still take m5 x 8mm grub screws.

I agree with Phil, don't tap. The extra friction of a poor thread is a good thing. Tap should rip though the drill body. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.

Marto is correct. You only need to put in a limited number of grub screws to hold the gear. However, dust and other debris can enter though the open holes. For this reason I filled every hole in drill gearboxes. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Just tried the M5 x 8mm grub screws they are too small, they slip right in and out of the hole.

Sorry, just noticed you're using an 18V kmart drill, not 12V, obviously they're different. They didn't seem to be selling the 18V when I bought mine a while ago.
I can pull my 18V apart on the weekend to see what size you need if you want.

That would be handy, otherwise I can find someone with some calipers.
Im also figuring out which washers will work to mount the wheels. Ive got one thats too big, and one thats too small.
