Making my first spinner need some advice
Hi guys, so far I have the motor and a Hobbyking YEP 80A (2~6S) SBEC Brushless Speed Controller and the spinning blade will just be a rectangle of 5mm steel.
Where can I find:
an axle with bearings
a pulley and belt
OR is there another way to do it?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

Not going to find much off the shelf for a spinner that will work well, but if you have a rough idea of what you want i have plenty of bits to sell cheap
20-25mm axles, bearings to suit and probably some pulleys and sprockets etc etc etc
If you want to drop down to a store front, CBC bearings typically has axle rod, bearings and what not for an average price. Smallparts.com is pretty good lately too if you can manage their dinosaur website lol. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

like glen said mate not a lot is off the shelf , I am building my first spinner myself and I wish you all the best!
pulleys you can get from cbc and run a o-ring for the belt or use polyethylene belt which you can make to size.
have you got any rough drawings/cad/sketches of this monster yet? if it's all still in your head I would definitely recommend putting it on paper then making a copy in wood to scale before you start cutting any metal.

Hi Glen,
Sounds like a plan!
can you pm me some details on the axle and bearings
and the pulley and sprocket. I have no idea what sizes are appropriate, so I'm
hoping I can trust your judgement!
Also I have no skill in CAD resulting in some pretty scary looking drawings.
BUT have made a mock up in wood.

if you have made a mock up in wood id say that's nearly as good as cad (i am hopeless at cad)

Turns out there is a shop up here (Sun Coast Bearings) which sells everything I needed and pretty cheap too, they also have sprockets and timing belts of pretty much every size.
BUT now that I have that done. The motor I was planning to use runs too slowly for the bot Ive built. Any ideas for what type of motor I should buy? and where from?

My preference goes to the NTM range from Hobbyking.
The NTM 5060's 380KV are real powerhouses for the price, but need some ruggedizing before putting them to use in the robots.
