They seem to have a good reputation but the shipping cost from QLD would be high for a lathe. Unless they have something unique, it would probably be cheaper to buy the lathe closer to home.

yeah I called in a few years back...they are pretty well stocked and have stuff on display...But prices seemed similar to hare and forbes(who are closer to us) so was going to go to them if we can ever afford a lathe.he he

How do you put a 1 mm drill bit into a drill press? My drill press won't clamp onto a small drill bit. Do people buy different chucks or are there adaptors that go into the larger chuck?

Or you get an old 240volt drill and cut the front chuck and shaft off it....you can do it on some old 12v drills to.

Decent chuck will pay dividends in the long run. The kind you do up without a key are surprisingly awesome. Though i just use the shaft and collet from a dead dremel when i have to use <1mm bits.

When I really need to I just strip a bit of wire and slide it over the 1mm bit. Then clamp it in the chuck.

Not a good solution but works.

What would be better for bolts stainless steel or high tensile steel? Which will better survive Scarlet impacts? Would SS tend to deform and HT tend to snap?

Stainless steel bolts are very soft compared to high tensile, which is the way to go for any robot. The 12.9 grade HT bolts are seriously tough.
