lol yeah, You'd have to make a piston assembly from scratch to make it any more effective. The piston in this one is no joke a glorified door stop.
Im about to start work on converting a cheap aircooled pocket bike motor into a workshop air compressor so that should provide some useful insight into making smaller ones from scratch.
Something like a piston port 2 stroke engine with a reed valve over the spark plug hole all suitably miniaturised down and mated to a big time brushless would be a pretty serious piece of kit me thinks.
maybe graft two compressors together @ 180 to each other to counter the vibes and provide a higher airflow. Coz, you know, if one is fine, two has to be better _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/
There are people in NSW at least who will sell you the tanks
no monthly rental.
We got a largeish argon cylinder for $400 or so, which sounds expensive, but the rental was almost that much a year, so if we have it for a year and a bit it pays for itself.
Refills were fairly cheap still as well i forget the name of the place but i know i mentioned it in the past.
@glen, if you want some cheap "shop air" get an old air conditioner or fridge compressor and a fire extinguisher or something as storage, they are really helpful, as you can use them for vacuum as well. Put a squirt of WD40 into the intake before running it each time and it'll last ages.
Also they are pretty much silent. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets
Does anyone see any issues with filling cylinders from an inverted tank if it doesn't have a dip tube? Obviously I am more likely to get crap from the bottom of the tank in the cylinder but I am willing to run that risk. _________________ Steven Martin

You shouldn't get crap in food grade CO2. You might be able to install your own dip tube. You could rent a D sized cylinder for just under two years for the purchase and postage so a good deal if you intend to keep using CO2. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems
