Believe me, those motors went CHEAP.

Just a single one of those motors is worth about $250 USD. I didn't want to bid against the guys here or I would have bought them.

And they went for $122.51

Still WAY too much for combat bots!

Scorpion is totally insane, perfect example that good companies are immune to this financial downturn rubbish... They've totally overtaken axi and everyone else in only a few years.

Amongst other things they're developing an open source Switched Reluctance Outrunner design which requires no increasingly costly neo magnets... If they work out it'll be a huge 'f you' to the guy behind the neodymium price fixing.

Impressive! The controllers are the sticking point at the moment, I read that Neu never bothered producing their largest inrunners design as there was no controller to power it (at least not an airbourne one) Perhaps we will see some evolution in the ESC area shortly. BTW: is it just me or does that first photo look like a wheel hub motor?
