Some progress on my large tank transmission, have recently decided to go the way of a modern tank transmission. The pic shows the main components, I am using planetary gears for the 3 diffs.
The tricky part to this is putting the planetary gears inside another gear/sprocket to the outside ring and then powering it.
We usually hose clamp our drill gearbox casings to the robots frame, imagine if you had to connect a chain to the outside case to spin that independently, thats sort of what I have to do, its called epi-cyclic.
The good part is thats really all thats tricky, The parts in the photo pretty much show the complete transmission lacking some gear reduction.

the centre clump of gears is my planetary diff using banebots gears, add casing and sprocket and thats done. the 2 side planetary single stages are from drills and are starting to look a bit small compared to the centre diff so will probably match them to the center diff. _________________ Bots that do not destroy you, only make you stronger.
