So hopefully my pile of antweight parts will be here next week.
I don't have much experience with antweights. I am wondering if anyone has any tips for building them. For our workshops we are looking at the 150g class which means modified servos for drive and I was thinking just making flippers/lifters.
If anyone has any pictures/links/tutes or experiences they would like to share if you could post them here would be greatly appreciated.
I will be doing up a tutorial and should have it posted here in a few weeks.

Well here is what I've built:
I call it Smoko because that is when I made it. It is clearly not finished.
2 standard $10 servos and one high torque, small FM receiver and an old AA battery pack all on a bit of Milo tin and milk bottle lid wheels. The half finished lifter arm will likely have another bit of tin for a bulldozer blade and it will all be covered with half a water bottle.
Weight so far = 300g
that is: 35g per servo
100g for batteries
most of the rest in the lifter arm
no idea how to build it under 150g without going to micro servos and lipols. _________________ Get Some!!!

That's pretty much the solution, but fortunately it's a cheap one. There is a large range of <$10 micro servos and <$5 lipo packs to suit antweights at hobby city.
Using those two parts along brings your drive and batteries in under 40grams, using some thinner aluminium (1-2mm) would make the lifter heaps lighter too. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

What weight class are you guys building to?
And remember I have owned an ant weight arena for 6 years that has barely been used.
I am fairly impartial to US or UK. I am thinking UK as it will be cheaper than the US ones which is the primary concern atm. _________________ Steven Martin

You can save 4g by taking the rx out of the case and another 13g by using a Rhino 360mah 2S lipol pack (22g). You could get away with a 130-150mah pack for just running servos and have another 10-12g saving. Modded one servo for continuous rotation. It sorta works.
Very jumpy and seems to get rather hot and one way goes better than the other.

I have ordered the parts for a 150g shell spinner.
Turnigy 3020-14T brushless with a Turnigy Plush 12A controller, a couple of 4g sub-micro servos and a couple of 400mAh LiPo cells.
All up about 60 - 65g and just under $45. _________________ Get Some!!!

Apparently the servo jittering is not helped by running at a higher voltage. 8.4V out of a freshly charged 2 cell lipo is pretty out of spec. _________________ Steven Martin

Stick a 7805 or 7806 regulator on the servos. Seen it done for antweights that use 11.1v for a weapon but only 4.8-6v micro servos for drive. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/
