After getting a couple of little things from Hobby City I have taken the plunge and ordered a brushless motor and ECS as an experiment. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

dont tell me you are thinking of going to the dark side Gary. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
Yes well just because Glen has a high attrition rate doesn’t prove there no good.
Also Brett has been keen on them for a long time.
Really its one of the main things that keeps me going in this hobbie.
Trying new stuff and learning new stuff.
If it looks promising it might find its way into Reboot.
He is in pieces at the moment for a few modifications.
To be competitive we have to find some weight somewhere for a stronger drum axel. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

The day I stop giving 100%, is the day I stop competing

Yer i was a bit skeptic on brushless in the beginning but sooner or later people work out most of the bugs then its worth giving it a try. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

yeah well as with any hobby part we use in the robots you cant just bung it in the robot and expect it to work flawlessly for eternity. gotta mod everything the hobbyking ones just had notoriously crap magnets + glue in them. was worth splurging the extra $40 on a decent motor then spend time regluing them all in for me anyway
definitely another frontier to get your head around anyway. keeps you on your toes
Well it could either go one of two ways:
1. Gary finally has some unreliability and/or lack of showmanship with a robot.
or 2. Rotwang robots become ever more destructive and one step closer to ruling the world... _________________ Chris, Team Collo
:::Is the answer to this question "no"?:::
All very hypothetical at the moment but were sticking to a friction drive somewhere between the motor and drum to reduce shock on magnets, twisting shafts etc.
Not worried about getting weapon up to full speed instantaneously.
More an exercise on saving space and weight than max speed power spin up.
After all Reboot only used a 100 watt scooter for weapon before this. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

Are you sure they can handle brushless current draw? _________________ Tim Team Reaper.
