Assumed is that there are different voltages used on the opening of the relays. if not, you can wire them all on the same battery. I also assumed standard relays, not reversable ones.
Because the servo only operates 2 relays at the same time, they can not short, unless a relay is stuck. You make sure the failsafe sets the servo in the middle, your robot will be perfectly still.
Note, you will still need to put in a removable link or on/off switch in this scheme, either on the plus or minus sides of the battery (not sure what you use in australia).
I have heaps and heaps of 24v relays hanging around so that shouldn't be a problem and my motors should be here this week so work will probably start here soon
