Enclosed shoes are a must but safety glasses would be no good because most would shatter on impact, causing more damage, if a piece of metal hit them. _________________ Go and get STAWNED!

If you are looking at having some fun with your bots, at a public location, with out an arena. (with the appropriate walls) I would recommend, not to use any weapon, and just drive your bots, and push each other around.
Then it is quite safe to compete againest each other. _________________ It's all about the destruction.

p.s: my robot looks much like cobra and has the same drive motors.
p.s.s im hoping to compete interstate next year does anyone know of a cheap hotel near the annihilator.

If u mean the ahnialator even we just had well u dont need a hotel. Ask around and u could probably get somone to give u shelter for a night. I had 3 awesomely cool guys stay at my place for the ahnialator and it helps out everyone involved. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

yes you probly have more knowledge mabye and cash$$$. ill try fix the problem on the website but it might just be your computer? and well you may finish before me because of a MAJOR problem i have. in the rules it says
"Pre 1991 non-narrow band radio systems are not allowed" my radio is an AM and i think it is older than 1991 ive cheacked the mother boards in it for markings but it does not tell me if its old than 1991. can someone tell me about non-narrow band and what it means? its on 29MHZ band if that helps (29.985) to be exact. its a ranger II older version. theres a pic on the site.

I think Ranger II's are ok from memory.. I'll have to double check that but I'm fairly certain they are.
"Non-Narrow-Band" refers to the time when the transmitters had 20Khz spacing between channel frequencies and took up more "bandwidth" when they transmitted. I'm not sure it applies to AM sets anyway, since they dont frequency-modulate, although their filters might not have been as tightly tuned in those days.
Sometime around '91, they changed to narrow-band-FM (known to techs as NBFSK or Narrow-Band Frequency Shift Keying) which means the signal only moves back and forth a few Khz either way of the main (crystal) frequency in order to transmit data (modulate). So the spacing between adjacent channels was reduced to 10Khz, half the width that it used to be
Pre-narrow-band radios are not allowed, because they take up *two* channels worth of bandwidth each, so are more likely to interfere with someone elses set on a nearby frequency _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people

WEll screw the worry about the pre 1991 non narrow band.
today the radio suddenly desided NOT TO WORK ARGGGGGGGGGG i changed the batterys checked the connections and it still didnt work.
luckly im getting paid by my dad to make 110 water logger battery packs
and im getting paid $200 to do that so im hopeing to get a 3-4 channel off the market place for around $100 and then mabey save up a bit and wait for someone to put up a ibc good working condition for around $150.
ive seen team hell bent put up speed controller for $90 but i think it for only 1 motor not both? any way ive mounted the motors and batterys then just for fun i conected the batterys to the motors and IT WENT OUT OF CONTROL i had to dive on it to try and stop it but i wacked me in the leg and it HURT. then it Zoomed off taking out my dog then hitting a tree.
well now i know it can move!!!!
P.S my dog is fine it didnt hurt him.

2day i was going to put oil in the gearbox of the motor because i opened it after it had a meeting in the sandpit because it wasnt running well and it was full of sand and dirt and tiny bits of wood. any way i closed it and went for the ear cleaners and oil to clean it out. went i came back i opened it and i must have been holding it wrong and everything on it fell ofgears went under things and the gear box case was cracked by the motor falling on it.
gezz my robot life is a bit like that motor (falling apart )
