Attempting having a basic robot setup, two drive motors and one larger weapon motor. I made this circuit running the two drive motors in parallel off 14.8V and one larger motor off 22.2V.
Tested each esc and motor individually and everything was fine. Plugged in ESC 3 to the circuit whilst the whole system was on and it instantly blew up with smoke filling the room. Upon later investigation, the insulation has been melted off the negative wire that connected to the receiver on ESC3, there is no other damage.
Can someone explain to me what I have done wrong? I am hesitant to say that the ESC was faulty since everything worked individually before it was tested all at once.
Do those ESC's handle 6-cell? You may have overloaded the BEC on the ESC that powers the RX.
I think the 30A would have been too small for that scooter motor anyway, that 250W is continuous - they pull a lot more power (and so amps) under startup or high loads.

burning out the neg wire on the receiver loom usually points to bad earthing in your circuit, I have done this a few times, usually the esc will still work but you will have burnt out the BEC and will have to power the receiver from another source/ESC _________________ Creative Instigation - Build Something Awesome!

Just saw your wiring diagram, where you have 2s in series with 4s thats where your problem is, I would get a bigger battery and run 2 separate circuits and also a bigger esc for that scooter motor, I hope this helps good luck! _________________ Creative Instigation - Build Something Awesome!
Yeh essentially what has happened is you have shorted one of the batteries with the ground receiver wires.
If you connect the grounds off the batteries which is what will happen with the RX. You can see a nice loop that makes a direct short across the 2S battery.
ESCs are likely fine but wires will need replacing. If you run two separate receivers on the different voltages should be ok.
