Nope. It's the opposite - we rely on it. We go through the points (damage, aggression (we dropped strategy), and tally. There are no suprizes though. WIth a 6 pt spread on damage and 5 on aggression, there's not a lot of problems deciding obvious matches. HOwever, the thing that gets judges in trouble, is static spinners - they sit there, and the other guy attacks. We don't dount damage done to a robot who's attacking a passive spinner.
We were almost lynched by Marc Thrope himself for a call in which a spinner lost against a brick - the brick's parts were spread all over the area, and the brick could barely move - though it could move. But the spinner never once was aggressive, so nonoe of teh damage counted...
