NSW season 4

Now that Robowars is over, its time to start planning this year's season. Based on last year's calendar, here are some proposed dates:

Round 1 24/02

Round 2 31/03

Round 3 12/05

Break for Robolympics (15/06)

Round 4 07/07 (most likely Annhilator date)

Round 5 25/08

Round 6 29/09 (October long weekend)

Round 7 03/11

Round 8 08/12

Compared to last year, this has no March break for Robowars Brisbane and a June break for Robolympics. I have not checked this against the school holidays yet, so some tweaking may be required.

There has been some positive talk about another NSW Annihilator event, but with a straight double elimination format. This seems to the crowd pleaser and we are certainly good at running the format by now.

I think we can promise a minimum $300 prize money and some really cool (and large) trophies

OK, I added a poll to the thread. Please remember that even if there is a majority for Sunday, Jeff Johnson has the deciding vote as the EO.

I might try to actually make it to a decent number of events this year!

Just gotta put together another bot amidst my rather excessive array of hobbies!

Thanks for getting those dates up Nick, I only got a calendar yesterday, so I can map them out now and if they are good for everyone we can post them in a new thread and have it locked off with some extra info and linked to the shortcut on the home page.

Sundays would be good but I think we should only change it, if it suits all the current attending members.
It would not be fair to change the day for new members if it excludes any regulars. Remember we did it to Angus once already.
I wont vote as either day is ok with me, though hopefully, Sunday will be unanimous.

Yeah that's true. I think if he can only make it sunday, then we could change it for the events he attends, but we shouldn't make it sunday permanantly.
We really should look at getting the annialator actualy working this year, so why don't people want to come to it??? Confused If it's messing with the date, Nick's got one already, that's way before the date for robowars became available...

As an interstate traveller, we need 3 months prior notice. Helps us get flights and work leave to attend the event. Full confirmations on event dates and combat format (Tornado Tag Team, Annihilator etc etc) also needs to be confirmed at this stage.

That's the only reason us QLDer's couldn't make it last year. VIC builders were also already committed to another event which was organised a long time before.

Thanks for the feedback Aaron.

In regard to the annhilator Lindsay and I had a number of hours stuck in a car together and came up with some ideas. However I think it best that we not discuss them in an open forum.

I wont vote on the preferred day, coz they are both the same for me. I don't work one day more often than any other unfortunately.

I'll go for whatever

Did Spockie indicate which month the Victorian nationals would be held? I figure we avoid that and put our event into school holidays for Victoria and there is really no excuse for people to stay at home.

I'm with you Glen, event next weekend? I just need to charge Jolt...
