If your willing to pay these guys http://www.sdp-si.com/ have everything your willing to dream up. They have all the specs on there items and CAD drawings. Also they have a calculator to workout belt spacing.
Sometime you can also find belts and pulleys for sale cheap on the RFL forums.
If you need to know the exact pulleys I can't remember, but I could work it out if needed. They were using the XL size belts.
BTW I hope your new build goes very well from now on. Cheers. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

I'm starting to think the new shell might be a bit unrealistic to be done before Robowars. After yesterday and chatting with the guys I would like to make some improvements @ the same time.
The 7/8 wheels were never as wide as I thought they would be. The soft mild steel edges of the wedges will not last for many events.
Solutions are wider 3" wheels, going up to 1-1/2" wide. Easy done, the shell will just have to be a bit wider. And of coarse this will give Eleanor increase traction.
Hardox/Bisalloy replaceable wedge tips. I don't think this need explaining.
Also rollerbearings on the inside bearing mounts.
Going to the hardox for the shell might give me spare weight to make these improvements(Its just has to be checked in CAD). After all that I might be happy with it, well until the next problem comes along(I will just fix that one too ).
So for Robowars I might just remove weight from the current shell(so the pneumatics will fit in underweight). And replace the ploycarb baseplate. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

So rather than blame the EO for your lack of traction you’re going to put sticker wheels on?
More non-typical behavior.
I am sure Brett would get the VHT out.
In my old drag racing days I preferred to run slightly bigger tires than theoretically necessary with a perfect track, you wont go quite as fast but consistency is important in Super Sedan and Robot Combat.
Larger diameter as well as wider as well as friction coefficient vrs weight and durability cost availability attachment method etc. Polar moment of inertia as far as reversing shock loads on gearboxes, Like any part in a bot it depends.

Yes, more thought may be needed before replacing the wheels with larger ones.
Ah... Never thought of using the grinder to mill slots in the interior Good work Trent, finally you used some Ghetto skills in your bot! _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

thx guys, not my idea in the end. I helped Andrew with his Spectrum and we discussed lightning ideas. He came up with the use of the grinder and I went with that. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

You cant get much stickier than 4x2in colsons, unless of course you move to spikes, which can only be used in that arena and would probably destroy the floor pretty quickly. . . _________________ Jeff Ferrara

Yeah but that was with a Dewalt per wheel _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

No it doesn't, 'wider wheels' and maybe less power in singularity's case.
Traction control how hard would it be? I'm thinking maybe some shaft encoders and some on-board processing? _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

theres a set amount of traction you can get out of a given set of wheels. 2" colsons are probably as good as itll get and wether you have 20 dewalts or 2 itll still only be able to transmit that amount of power to the floor.

Use an accelerometer for detecting if the robot is accelerating or just spinning. get the micro to check the RPM of the wheels and see if it is increasing it's speed till the threshold or just burning rubber... Spark Electronics have some cool 3 axis accelerometers (They have the ones used in the Nintendo Wii controller too) _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

only thing you need to work on would be how to stop it charging off in random directions when someone rams you. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Might sound a little hypocritical coming from me, but since you've already got a gyro, you could just lay off the stick a little _________________ Jeff Ferrara
