I didnt notice the pictures before
That self drive linkage is off a very early modle Rover mower. The shaft the wheels are on is susposed to friction drive on to the wheels via cast iron toothed drive dogs .
If you use that set up with both wheels fixed to the axel and one motor driveing you will never get your bot to turn it will just go in a straight line unles you put some sort of diferantial in the wheels or drive shaft .

yep that is a bike de-railer cog wilko, I have broken them before, so I got a fair few of them together just in case .
Yeah that is an old rover self propeled unit Totaly_Recycled,I have had it sitting in the shed for quite some time so I'm going to put it to good use now.
Well my plan was to have the 2 back wheels solid on the axle and have the 2 front wheels to steer with so thats the reason I'm using that old frame.
Well I went looking through all the stuff in my back shead and found an old CAT AC condensor fan motor. I is almost 3kg, 24v and is just the right size for the cogs so I think I might use this unit instead of going to the scooter motor for now.Dose anyone else out there run 24v motors in there robots?

Many robots run at 24v, especialy ones which need the voltage for their weapons. I think Jeff F has gone the highest here at around 36v when he ran his brushless motor in cyclonite... There's a huge range. _________________ ( •_•)
how r u fastening the cog on the motor? _________________ WHEN YOU GO TO COURT YOU'RE TRUSTING YOUR FATE TO TWELVE PEOPLE
