exactly the same as the one from Oatley, the Oatley one is $22. Or you could buy the REAR DRIVE ASSEMBLY from Oatley and that includes the belt and wheel for $32.

Is this a 2 wheeled robot or a 4 wheeled one ?
If its a 4 wheeled one then you'll need 2 200 watt motors running at 24V and chain drive the wheels, this is what Gary has done with his Ultibot.

If it is a 2 wheeled then you might be able to get away with running the 200w at 12V, although this depends on how heavy the robot is.

Bare in mind that you half the voltage you quarter the wattage (I think that is right Very Happy )

My robot will be like a car front steering and rear wheel drive so I'll probably only need 1

I reckon this is one of the best sites/forums in Australia Very Happy ,it's full of people who would rather help you than get into you about every small detail Smile

http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l119/wipermotor/?action=view&current=ax.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch3 (rear drive assembly)

http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l119/wipermotor/?action=view&current=wh.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1 ( one of the wheels I'll be using unless I find somthing better)

http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l119/wipermotor/?action=view&current=wm.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch2 (and of corse a wiper motor I MIGHT be using)

only thing is with 10kg of slas making a steering mechasnim will be pretty tricky. jeffs destroyed a few servos in el bravo and such.

would be easier to just get a pair and have it steer like a tank. more power, easier and the rest. the base youve got looks pretty good.

only other downer with the wiper motors is its fairly hard to attach anything to the stubby shaft.

the 100w setups are pretty nice. not too great torque wise compared to a drill but most robust and fast and efficient. kinda hard control wise without a proper proportional (can move each motor at different speeds) controller.

humm ok
well I'll have to figure out what to do about steering although I could make it articulated would this present any more problems?

I was thinking of something similer for an ultibot (off-road combat robots). The main problem with the steering in something of that size is commercial servo's just dont cut it (or if you do find one, it would cost ALOT). I was thinking of hacking a standard servo to communicate with a larger motor, but I don't know if the concept would work. Tank steering is way more sturdy, and simpler. Besides, it's a paintball "tank" isn't it? Wouldn't be a tank if it can't turn on the spot Laughing
EDIT: seems oatley is down again? Confused But a good method that's tried and works is to get the 200w or 300w scooter motors from oatley and drive the wheels through a chain and sprocket setup. Smile

just use tons of servos if you have to, or a W/W motor with a feedback system. could always just put a proportional controller on the motor and that could control that side to side. put limit switches either side too.

Na it isn't quite a paintball tank it's supposed to be a support car.
It delivers paint balls to the team it's on

EDIT: thanks for that woody I reckon I'll make one of them when I can find the parts
