I wonder if this could be done for the Banebots/Whyachi motors?

the Banebots/Whyachi motors don't have the internal space for the extra carrier plates from what I've seen. The XU1's require a bit of a mod to fit the extra carrier plates and Andrew's just recently found an easier way to do it Cool

Original Thread

Here's a link to the original discussion on the mods we're doing stateside, inspired by Andrew's modifications:

http://forums.delphiforums.com/NWAR/messages?msg=505.6

It has a lot more pictures of the mod Rob made, along with a description of how he did it for the curious. I chime in with my modification, which is the one that's pictured above.

Well just sifting through my pile of drill gearboxes, I had a look at the Ozito drills I bought for spares in Melbourne and found some funky little things.

The Ozito have longer shafts, which I previously noticed, but what I didn't see was in the longer snout where the bushing usually is, is a pair of ball race bearings! They look to be only cheapies, but I think with a quick visit to the bearing shop, one could pick up some better quality sealed bearings to suit. The shafts are about an extra 12-15mm longer due to the extra long snout to provide better axial strength,

Thought this might be of interest to those people still running drill motors. The 12v Ozito's were $25-30 IIRC.
