Well again a new type of drill has shown itself at dick smiths for $60.
This time a 24v Hammer Drill with 2 speeds 500/1400 the later makeing me a very have boy. Don't know weight of anything yet sorry

As you will see in the pic it's one beffy motor as well
It is very similar to the dewalt drills in that it has a shaft that inserts into the gearbox and ends up where you can see it now. That why I left the setup like it is for now to hold it in.
It looks like it would fit the sqwishy wheel or red one.
Thinking 2 of these on a bot will make a nice setup though i'll stop short of 4 I think. Never know then again.

Oh yea it has a 1.2 ammp 24v (NiCad!) battery with a 2 ammp fast charger so will be interesting to see if the batterys are any good as for less drive dependent bots, that battery and charger setup could be good and cheap if you got someone who wants the motor.

Looks very similar to my 18v GMC hammer drills. The GMC ones are full metal gears, two speed (400 & 1400) and the motor is a Johnson with a peak rating of 740watts. If your drills are the same or better, they are going to rock out the box!

Rather than start a new thread, I figure I'll just add to this one. I was in Kmart today (buying a soda stream machine lol) and I spotted these 12v cordless drills for $18.99. They are Maximate brand, made in china as usual. There's nothing that really stands out with these drills above any of the others except the price. They had a bunch of other powertools for the same price aswell. So if anyone is looking for cheap drills check out you local Kmart, I got 4 while I was there, if they still have them next week I'll grab a few more.

I use them now that XU1 discontinued the 12v XU1's.
They work well, but I wait till they have them on sale for $10

There's also a Aldi brand range of tools called PowerCraft. They have an 18v drill which is forty dollars. Roughly 2 XU-1s.

That's pretty expensive, you may as well get the dicksmith 18v drill and get the full metal gears... unless this brand has a better feature to boast?
