Yes they are gear motors, they turn up in wire feeders on mig welders but we got these pair on the old wheel chair that Pyrobot is made out of.

Was originally going to use them on the big version of Fragmentor.

They are aluminum castings with spur gears and pancake motors.

After Nick’s problems with his thin gaps I have wired these with inductors, as they don’t have iron cores.

Rob has put a picture of Ultidrum up freshly painted today, just need to put him together now. Smile

The weapon is under construction for Pyrobot. Smile

Ultidrums drum is shock mounted, we can adjust the ground clearance but not by remote control during the fight. It would be possible to modify him to do this but not a lot of point.
Depending on terrain and height of opponents it can be adjusted in the pits on the day. Cool

Little bit of progress, Bulldoze’s artifact recovery attachment is on and sort of working as in I don’t have it working by remote control yet but if I connect the wires to a battery it works.
The ignition device for Pyrobot is sparking, haven’t tried to actually light the gas yet.

Lots still to do.

Been thinking about Ultibots and have decided that Maestro is suitable for base defense.
Even though he has big wheels he doesn’t have a lot of ground clearance but if bases are on reasonably flat terrain he can just sit and guard the artifact, just have to be careful not to hit the artifact he is meant to be guarding. Smile

Well the first Ultibots comp was a bit of a one horse race.
The only team to front with working bots was ours. Bulldoze retrieved the artifact and Ultidrum patrolled the area, Bullant sat quietly with no esc and batteries so Rob didn’t beat up on him.

Pyrobot just watched from the sidelines with Lawnmower, Maestro and Arena sweeper set up with a GMC generator as a recharging station none of them were operational but we brought them along to show David and co.

The Quarry is a brilliant location, lots of potential for some sort of off road robot comp. Very Happy

Bit tricky putting a flamethrower in Maestro, I will have to think about that one.

Did anyone get a photo of the terrain? Cool to know that you can successfully get the artifacts on you're first attempt!

With Nick’s big controller we will be able to play around with some of the big bots.
Looking forward to giving Bulldoze a proper run around the back yard on 36 volts. Very Happy

Bulldoze needs 36volt; the wheel chair combo is tooo slow on 24volt.

I am playing safe and using SLA’s though so it avoids those nasty float charge voltages.

That was 2006
If you can be bothered reading the first page on this thread you can catch up on some un finished business that I am currently focused on.
The Ragebridges are coming out of Bender and Minimower and the Rare earth motors are going into Lawnmower our middleweight.

Bomshell runs fine on Rage with rare earth amp flows and I have been watching way to much heavy weight action.

12 months later I have finally gotten around to fitting the electric bike motors and Rage into Lawnmower. These ones

https://www.motiondynamics.com.au/my1018z-unite-250w-24v-dc-gear-motor-380rpm.html

So far very happy with result, next thing is to fit our other Rage into Maestro.

Maestro also runs those motors and has blown IBC's and even a Sidewinder.

Having fun digging the big bots out and getting them working.
