Sydney TVS television show

After some preliminary discussion at the last event and a few conversation I've had with Lindsay. I think it would be a good idea if we could come up with a television show that would be broadcast on the sydney community based station called TVS.

I've watched it a bit, and they are constantly requesting more programs etc. I think they would be really interested. They get free programming and we get the satisfaction of seeing our sport get some limited coverage, free advertisements and a wider audience.

There format is for a 22-25 minute program, as well as 1x 15 second promo and 1x 30 sec promo. They take the program in any format.

Lindsay suggested we could compile a sort of highlights reel cobbled together with some sort of commentary or introduction to show them. Doing that with a view to making the annihilator a proper series of episodes. Similar to battlebots/robowars where the filming gets done in one day then divided into segments.

What do people think? How could we go about achieving this?

I think adding some interviews in of the bot builders explaining about there bot and talking about the sport in general is good. If you watch the Combots Cup promo clip, they have a few of the drivers talking about why they compete and why they love the sport.

Personally, I reckon if you keep it purely as just a coverage of the sport, it will be good. But if you try to turn it into a TV Show, you'll end up crapping it like Robot Wars where it was all just showie (house robots, flame pits) and not combat orientated.

Overall, sounds good guys Wink

how do u view programs on TVS, i have never heard of them, could jsut be me with foxtel and all not knowing whats on normal tv anymore these days but yeah.

If we do do this though having matches and driver interviews, a interviewer and all that jazz would be pretty tight.

Also to fill in the gap as our events r only on once every month or so have it so theres maybe 3 or 4 matches per week episode and basically spaning a whole days battling into maybe a few weeks worth of episodes so its heats in week 1- semi's week 2 etc and also throwing in random stuff like orbit/jolt doing demolishion derby's of random appliances, beetleweight stuff when it happens, minibike races and stuff

All round should be alot of fun, now all i need to do is get new orbit done so i can put on one hell of a show

Its the old UHF channel 31 - http://www.tvs.org.au/

no digital though (not that I know of anyway) which is a pain for people who no longer use analoge stuff . . .
Oh well, at least I now know what all those antennas on the Werrington South UWS campus are for lol

I'm willing to edit together a highlights package/promo thing for the 15 and 30 second sections. I do this sort of thing at school for the end of year video we do each year.

try tuning it in with your VCR, you will probbly have to tune it, IE it wont be on the preset. we couldnt get it with the TV but the video got it fine. At parramatta the signal was fine, esp with their new transmitter.

if the broadcast source is werrington south like nightshade said then you may have difficulty getting it where you are.

That sort of stuff doesn't happen overnight... though having said that is anyone doing any test filming for it this event? Maybe a quick bot rundown from the builders? There'll only be four Laughing

Ok, I've been a bit busy with shiz, but I'm back in the game after getting a second wind.

What we'll do is do a whole bunch of filming with the next event and try and edit that with some commentary and music. See how we go with that.

Nice nice, what about we also get the builders to have a little 30min talk about their bot in the pits? Smile Stick it in for the two builders before showing the fight!
And we'd also need to sort of restrict the amount of annoying and somewhat stupid remarks made by people during fights... you know who you are Laughing
