Very Happy can someone do a cutting list for the mdf needed for the arena ,
do we have any more polycarb for the lower front wall ? if not we should pull some of our club funds to get some, iam happy to purchase it through my buisness and ill just get the cash from the club Wink ..as stated the mdf if free consider it a donation to people who play with dangerous toys .ohh and ill cut 2 lots of mdf so we have a spare set ..a couple tins of yellow and black paint could jazz it up a bit as well Wink

i reckon maybe instead of more polycarb have some of that plastic fleible stuff maybe say 30cm or something in front of wall, would stop most things before they got to the polycarb.

only issues is mounting and reflection/glare off it which may effect visibility

Also maybe creatingg something to replace/better protect them lexan front walls that me and nick keep demolishing Very Happy

If you mean that roll of flexible plastic Jeff has, I don't think it will last a second. Bots like Singularity will drive right through it, while our bots will shred it and get the pieces tangled in the weapon. Given that we have around $500 in the bank and have not spent any significant money on the arena since the floor tiles went in, a new sheet of polycarb sounds reasonable. A low strip of mdf (about 10cm) in front of the polycarb would be a cheap way of protecting the plastic from most bots.

What about if we get tires and cut them down one side, then bolt the strips down the sides of the arena? (the three non viewing sides). Just a thought, might be an idea. Smile

We can get all the proper measurements and make some solid decisions tomorrow (today) on the arena repairs/ upgrades.

I missed out on the flouro fittings from work so if Chris can still offer a pair of double battons that probably work great.

The account currently stands at $430.00

Some more poly would be good, I can have some bent into "U" shapes at work to make light guards. I plan to repair the front screen tomorrow as best I can but there isn`t any spare poly at the mo.
We can work out the best way to go before we go buying anything.

We really need a to-do list and an action plan for next weekend or we will have to delay the event. From what I saw, several tiles on the side walls need replacing and we need to measure the walls carefully so Chris can cut the MDF bumpers. We also need a welder along to tack the replaced tiles into place.

Questions:

How are the MDF bumpers going to be held onto the concrete-filled metal tiles?

Can we get new polycarb in time for the next event?

Can we use the old polycarb from the front wall as light protectors?

Very Happy the mdf will need to be attached with green masonary plugs ,as the tiles are concrete filled but the steel will need to be pre drilled first so as to not blunten the 6mm masonary bit ,pre-drill the mdf ,place mdf in position use standard drillbit to mark hole position on the steel tileby using the holes in the mdf as a template then drill the steel ,followed by the masonary bit insert plug fix with inch and a half 8 guage screws ,which i will supply, should take about half hour tops .....
.i will be struggling to make the 27th so bodge it up the best you can for that day ...ill see how i go ,but the mdf isnt a problem if someone wants to pick it up from my workshop thats fine ,but i still need some dimensions so i can cut it to size Wink

This Sunday I will be putting the arena back together if anyone wants to help out.

The front poly can be re-used with the best bits at the front.
I will just hang up the busted flouro for the time being and the side tiles can be put back in place with the timber bracings installed that were never actually finished!

I have sent Chris the measurements for the MDF and to protect the shed walls we can probably hang loosley that clear vinyl, gathered like curtains.

New lights and new polycarb are yet to be decided on.
