Yeah by the sounds of it you have the dates right, its the 1st weekend of NSW school holidays (so the last weekend of VIC school holidays, not a clue regarding Qld), so about 3 weeks before the HSC, so i think even with the HSC i will be there.

chiken wire will make the radio even worse than it already is
perhaps some of that clear plastic sheeting?
should be cheap and availablle in bulk.
it'd be best if we followed the line of the roof somewhat to give the bots maximum space underit.

Option 2 is to just armor up the lights etc.
thats probbly easier, just some 3mm polycarb and some sorta frame

We were talking about getting some 2nd hand fluro fittings as used in offices with suspended ceilings. They have a full steel surround that we can easily screw some polycarb to and should be cheap if we can find a source.

Troffers are cheap. You might like to get a price on new ones at your local wholesaler, such as Haymans. Batton fix fittings may be more appropriate if you don't have a suspended ceiling.

You can reduce the reflection on the arena screens by using reflectors to direct the lights down and/or the use of barn doors to stop the light spilling onto the screens.

One thing that worries me with a big field at marayong is if the pits have to extend around the side of the shed, theres only a thin galvanised sheet between them and the bots

As has been said, the tin walls seem pretty tough - it just occured to me that the small window in the side wall is the real risk, particularly if it is used for spectating. Any of the spinners could send schrapnel thru the glass and cause injury. We really should put 3 to 5mm polycarb on the inside to stop that.

@ Phil: new double battons with no surrounds are about $35 last time I looked. I was hoping the used ones would be somewhere between free and $10...

Nick I am pretty sure the side window already has a sheet of polycarb over it.

I'd prefer the carton of bourbon Laughing
Perhaps we should look at sticking some tall poles at each corner of the garden so we can hang a tarp nice and high over them Smile
