Well, this weekend has seen a poor little NQD ebay hydro go through hell... and back
First test with glen, screwed up... the drill motors pack a massive torque punch, and as soon as it was powered up near full, the couplings fell loose resulting in a dead in the water boat
Today morning... i thought zipties around the couplings would help... me and my dad decided a test was in order before anyone bothered to film, so i powered up, soft started it and it rocked along for about 10 meters (actualy planed!) Then *bizzew*... the motors threw the zipties!
So... this arvo i attemped a new approach. Using 8mm drill bit stoppers, i wedged the rubber coupling to the motor, and jammed the stopper over them, then tightened the set screw...
It is what was needed to hold it all in place... the props now have a chance to drive the ultimate powerplant this boat now has... at least till they tear up the rubber coupling!
Glen, prepare for PWNAGE
Oh, also, here's a little video comparing the thrust of the stock and modded NQD, as well as some specs. Darn school means no boating till next weekend!
