after spending many nights working on hyzer here is some cad and design progress on raiden.
first i decided that the mini evs will barely fit BUT there would be so little clearance between the motors and the disk and that the way the motors would need to be mounted to fit in would be most inneffecient. so ill just use the HTI motors for now as i can pick those up locally and they are nice and small
they fit in perfect and the mounts will be made out of 3mm aluminium bracket. they clamp the front and back of the motors and then bolt onto the top plate. i can adjust the height of the motors with washers if needed.
you can also see in this one the mounts ive been thinking about for the batteries and IBC. made from 6mm and all screwed together to cage it all in but still leave a bit of shock mounting. im not sure if i like it at all and im sure ill have some flash of inspiration on how to do it better..
and the latest revision is in an effort to make the disk thinner im going to use one thick bearing in the middle of the disk instead of two small ones on either side. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

well i got more welding wire and got one tooth welded onto the disk. ive got to get the flap disk out on that tooth and clean it up so theres a nice smooth surface for the friction wheels and then the other tooth needs a bit of modifying before itll fit on right. should have it done before i leave for newcastle.. shibby _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

The friction drive is pretty clever and really compact - what speed you you think the disk will do? _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

finally got out to jaycar and picked up the pair of motors for raiden. ones the right type but the dumbassed idiots there labelled the wrong motors so i ended up with a shorter version... grrrr so ill try sell that one off and go get another one. note to self, knife a jaycar worker before i die
ive also got that extra box section cut so i need to find another piece and im set for the armour and frame pretty well.
also pretty sure im just going to get some bis disks made. too lazy to get this piece of crap flywheel working lol. god you gotta love that lazy back-to-work spirit. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

Thats so cool man, now when i call up about the timing belt and pulles i need for my beetleweight i can bug u about it
Hey a guy works there whos very clever but in a rusty sorta fashion, hes go a grouly voice but awesome sense of humour, he has built a number of robot related things and i have spoken with him a few times on diff robot related stuff. Bring in a robt to display and hed seriously flip out _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Well there was one or two really simple jobs that needed to get done on Raiden today so i got them done while i had the chance.
Kangs old 24v packs had to get butchered apart and resoldered into smaller 5 cell split packs. they also fit in fine as the way the packs are made follows the profile of the wedges on the back so bonus!
also checked the IBC fits in which it does, albeit at a bit of an angle but you pay the price for making the thing so small hehe
you can see the two motors up the top in one picture and thats about their final positions. i need to get started on their motor mounts soon as they are not a hard job. although ive been pondering redesigning them so that the torque of the motor on startup pushes them into the disk harder. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts
